Pleasant Soli-Resin Roundabout Vanilla
Vanille Benjoin is a fragrance that does a good job of referencing vanilla via notes that are not exactly vanilla themselves. For me VB is a nice benzoin soli-resin (TM) with a strong tonka note providing even more vanilla adjacent coziness. This one sits close to the skin and while it’s nothing earth shattering, it definitely provides warm sweater weather comfort to make for a nice fall scent. In the lane of Le Labo Vanille 44 and Diptyque Eau Duelle with the Benzoin as the star of the show.

Your Skin but with Vanilla
This is vanilla in its natural state before people add tons of sugar. There is a sweetness, but its not overpowering like I find in most vanilla fragrances. The benzoin added adds a woody and almond depth to the fragrance. This is warm, woody, powdery, and slightly creamy. This is what this is, this is a "your skin but better" (i.e. your skin but with vanilla) fragrance. Its fairly linear as a fragrance but it is interesting and well made. This is not your Bath and Body work's body spray.

This lasted all day, over 8 hours and the projection is fairly strong. I left a fairly strong scent trail wherever I went but it wasn't so strong that people could smell me across the room. A 50ml will cost you €179 and a 100ml is €279.

Dessert Wine
The right wines can elevate a good or very good meal to first class. For a long time, I had no idea and always bought the same grape varieties when I purchased wine. However, a really good and very nice restaurateur enlightened me otherwise. Because well-chosen wines can literally crown a menu. Since I enjoy sweets, I always look forward to dessert. And a nice dessert wine makes a fine puff pastry cake, a mousse, or creamy ice cream even more delicious.

Dessert wine. Slightly resinous, slightly sweet, strong, and usually a bit higher in alcohol than the wines served with appetizers and main courses. Vanilla Benjoin reminds me of such a wine. It starts off alcoholic and then tickles the nose with warm-vanilla but also woody-resinous notes. It doesn't have a big development, this tipsy, soft cuddler. Instead, it quickly gets to the point with its vanilla wood tones and creates a pleasant coziness. Vanilla Benjoin doesn't have that Christmas sweetness that many woody vanilla scents of this kind possess. Despite its slightly alcoholic opening, it remains grounded. Thus, it is well-suited as a companion to a delicious dessert, but it is itself far from a pure, sweet gourmand.

A fine one that I primarily see for Mr. Polly and less for myself. The reason: It reminds me of the wonderful Dzhari by Phaedon, characterized by a Marsala wine note, which I have even purchased for Mr. Polly several times. The two are very similar with their tipsy opening and the fine woody, vanilla base.

However, we couldn't find any issues with longevity, as has been read here multiple times. Vanilla Benjoin is not a powerhouse and doesn't fill rooms right away, but it holds its own and was practically detectable on my beloved throughout the whole day. I don't find it too expensive either. The Phaedon is also in a similar price range. A clear recommendation from me for anyone who enjoys vanilla scents that are a bit less sweet. Fortunately, I can't consciously perceive Ambroxan. A note that often bothers me, but here it seems perfectly integrated.

Many thanks to Rieke2021 for the testing opportunity.

Ode to Coziness
Outside it is cold and stormy, and the darkness of the night threatens to swallow every innocent being that dares to venture into this inhospitable environment. Only here, in the fireplace room, is it snug and cozy. The fire blazes in the open fireplace, filling the room with a golden glow. Whoever lit the fire seems to know their craft, as there are no clouds of smoke or haze to be sensed here. Next to the fireplace, neatly stacked dry wood ensures that the fire can be replenished at any time, keeping the cold at bay.

On the low table in front of me lie desirable treasures spread out: glossy black vanilla pods from Tahiti and Madagascar, releasing their noble, unsweetened scent into the air, the amber-colored resin of Styrax tonkinensis, whose balsamic, soothing aroma merges with the vanilla in the room's atmosphere into a true delicacy. Individual black tonka beans, delicately scented with almond rum, and a solitary cinnamon stick have mingled among the treasures; a freshly stuffed pipe catches my eye a little further away, which together perfects the olfactory harmony surrounding me. It is quiet and peaceful here, only the soft crackling of the fireplace can be heard. The entire room is filled with an idyllic calm, and I am in harmony with myself and my world.

I seem to have fallen asleep on the soft suede sofa, and when I wake up, it is already bright outside. In the meantime, the fire has gone out, and a good house spirit has already cleaned the fireplace and arranged new wood within it. The vanilla and benzoin treasures are no longer in front of me; only a faint trace remains, reminding me of the intense aroma from the previous evening. The room has grown cooler, but that does not bother me, as someone has draped a fluffy blanket over me, keeping me warm. It must be the blanket of the pipe smoker, as I am enveloped in a friendly-aromatic, slightly vanilla-cinnamon, and subtly woody tobacco scent. I still feel warm and comfortable, and I am reluctant to leave this wonderful place, but now I also look forward to the new day and know that the morning scent impression of this room will quietly accompany me for quite a while. And I also know: Whatever this new day may bring, I can return to my fireplace room again this evening....

The Snuggle Blanket for Cold Days
It’s evening on a cold and cloudy autumn day. I come home, light a few candles, snuggle up in my blanket on the couch, and watch an easy-to-digest movie.
To match this, I apply this wonderful fragrance.
It starts with a slightly alcoholic benzoin note, accompanied by vanilla and a hint of spice. A bit of cedarwood joins in, and over time the alcoholic aspect fades away. That’s about it, though. It’s not particularly impressive as it develops. Once the almost rum-like note has dissipated, it remains as it is, which according to the manufacturer is exactly how it should be.
The vanilla is not too soft, which makes it a rather masculine scent for me. Honestly, I don’t see/smell it on a woman at all.
The fragrance is rather understated and close to the skin. Even 30 sprays don’t change that much.
Thus, it is perfect for a date or personal and intimate moments, where a "Oajan | Parfums de Marly," which it strongly resembles, would simply be too overpowering.
The longevity is quite stable, but it could be a bit stronger.
The sillage is meant only for the person for whom the fragrance was applied and is, as mentioned, rather discreet.

It is wearable in almost any situation from the end of September, whether for a date in everyday life or at work. However, one shouldn’t expect many compliments due to the sillage.

In summary, it’s a rounded, somewhat masculine vanilla that hardly changes over time.

Fairly predictable, but up close it smells like incense.. candle.. smoke? Like actively burning incense, singing your nose hairs

Here greets Dzhari from Phaedon: slightly tipsy, delicately spicy, and fine vanilla with woody notes. I can really imagine this for him.

Multifaceted vanilla with a bright resinous-waxy quality, like a burnt, dripping candle on a wine barrel.

Solid vanilla, stripped of all heaviness, exudes a subtle smokiness and feels pleasantly not too sweet. However, the price is unacceptable!

Dark, slightly sweet and powdery tonka bean, surrounded by a hint of smoke. Warm + soft. Perfect for a cozy evening by the fireplace with resinous woods.

A lovely scent of vanilla, resin, and a nutty tone that reminds me of Bois Farine, but becomes much sweeter. I like it.

Unsweet vanilla that unfortunately seems to have passed its expiration date. Similar to Bois Farine (which I also don't like).

Intensely beautiful is the vanilla ...
resinous-powdery it comes!
Wearable even in summer because it's not too heavy...
but at that price *sigh*
