CPO#6 Buried Under Soap
Goodness, what a board, I mean washboard, with a lot of soap. Pure soap.
Of course, this needs to be scented, otherwise it would be boring.
Al Rehab uses sandalwood here, probably also nutmeg and a citrus blend that is not further specified...

The Man is yet another fragrance where an attempt was surely made to concentrate western vintage scents to a maximum level, and do it in an Arabic way. The perfume oil is so strong that a small swipe on the pulse points is enough to create a decent sillage. So 3ml = 100ml.

As it develops, the soapy-citrusy aspect diminishes a bit (but only a bit), now wood notes dominate the further scent progression. It remains very spicy overall, yet always on the fresh side, and I always associate something coniferous in the background. But it could also be because it resembles Amir by Sultan Essancy, which indeed smells very soapy-woody.
The Man is, however, crafted more beautifully, no question, but you really have to be into spicy hardcore soapy scents. It's not entirely my thing, but let's see how my scent impressions change over time.

Edit: I already know: This one is not for me... There aren't many fragrances I can't stand, but The Man definitely belongs to that category, hence another deduction in the rating.

Edit: The more sparingly it is used, the better it is. So minimal use leads to the best result.

With the "Boss" by my side...
Huh? Bruce Springsteen? You think so ;-D

No, far from it. The "Boss" was my dad for me during my teenage years. I always used this term of endearment when I wanted to achieve something that was normally not looked upon favorably or when I wanted to stay out longer, etc., like on a Saturday night that I particularly remember:
Like every year, Dad was celebrating his birthday with colleagues and their wives... the opportunity was perfect not only to go out but of course to extend the time I was supposed to be home a little...

Dressed up nicely (the 80s ;-D) in the living room where things were lively, everything caught my attention, whether it was time to go and where to, etc., and someone always asked when I would be back or had to be back, and the disco doesn't start until late or where I wanted to go and where my own kids liked to hang out, all those kinds of questions.

That was my time! My cue! I was just waiting for such questions! Why? Ha, because my answer was always: "I need to ask the Boss!" and with my most innocent smile (it was probably more of a cheeky grin) I would link arms with Dad and look at him expectantly.

This always triggered the biggest laughter, no matter who and when, people would pat Dad on the shoulder and add comments like: "Well Boss, don't be too strict, it's Saturday!" Well, since Dad always felt very flattered, there was easily an extra hour, as he didn't want to embarrass himself in front of his colleagues, who were all parents too and trying to be the ultimate square.

What does this have to do with the fragrance?
When I smell this scent, it’s just like back then, my dad and his "generation," the gentlemen between 40 and 50, who used the aftershaves that were common at the time, well, the wheel was certainly not reinvented here...

Anyone reading "Oud" in the pyramid and thinking this must be a more modern scent... no, no, no, absolutely not, because if Oud were really perceptible here, as we as perfume lovers assume based on the listing, I certainly wouldn't wear the scent - but I do, and I like it very much, and I really don't like Oud.

Yes, I also enjoy wearing men's fragrances, and this one in particular, not because I have to, but precisely because it reminds me of the quite affordable scents or aftershaves from back then, which we kids always saved up from our pocket money and then placed under the Christmas tree for Dad.
Yes, precisely because it smells like that, and the nice thing is: There is completely no alcohol here, moss and sandalwood smell so typically of 70s/80s men's fragrance, and there's always a hint of citrus, even though nothing like that is listed.

For me, the oil and the lack of alcohol make the small but fine difference: The application with the roll-on and the fact that you don't spray alcohol, no splashing like with aftershave or spraying around, but this rolling on, makes the scent appear calmer and more harmonious from the very first second, and that makes it so wearable for me from the very first moment.

The scent is an absolute bargain, the 3-ml roll-on bottle will surely last an eternity, and it is extremely long-lasting with quite a decent sillage. I keep noticing it again and again during movement, etc., and here we come back to the headline: With this scent, I always have

…the "Boss" by my side, all day long, again and again… thanks to the lovely Parfuma who included it as a surprise in a package ;-D

Used very sparingly, The Man actually doesn't smell bad, but you still have to like soapy retro scents.

Holy metal, who should wear this? Intense wood scent reminiscent of Krizia Uomo (old version) - very old school for fans of the 70s/80s!
