Strolling through the Rose Garden of Memories
On the occasion of Christine Kaufmann's fifth anniversary of her passing, I recently published an obituary on Facebook with my very personal memories of her.
Less about the actress than about the woman she had become when, at the beginning of this century, she presented not only her very good wellness and beauty products on teleshopping.
These were always sold out very quickly; she generously and charmingly shared her experiences as a not-so-young woman with care and wellness.
(At sixty-something, she was still performing acrobatics in the television studio - flexible and elegant - it was a joy to watch her. I, although a bit younger, couldn't even think of trying to imitate her!)
But much of what was told there, and of course her many books and wellness guides, have accompanied my life since then.

So her fragrances have also been very familiar to me.
Primarily, of course, "Claire" with its Moroccan scent magic, but also the wonderfully sensual "Sensual" and the fresh, invigorating "Jazmint" (a blend of rich jasmine scent with a cheeky mint note).
From time to time, I take the beautiful glass bottle of "Claire" in my hand and sniff it:
You can still clearly feel it, this life-affirming aura that surrounded Christine!
It is still "like an Angel’s passing through my Room".

Through this Facebook post, I was offered a sample of the fragrance "Rosenresli," which I had previously dismissed, which I gladly accepted and (thanks to a personal delivery to my mailbox) have since been able to test.

I encounter a rose garden scent that not only envelops protectively but also gives us women a very special feminine charm.
Here we find mature garden roses; not the noble long-stemmed ones, but those we all know from colorful garden beds, from numerous rose trellises/pavilions, and as wild dog roses with their thick-headed flowers (the so-called "dog rose") at the roadside: in full bloom the one, with still youthful innocence of the buds of the other; others have already passed their prime and gladly add their abundance of slightly faded scent: rich and unpretentious.
A hint of green and earth accompanies pleasantly.
Just like morning dew drops on the rose leaves and later in the day the satisfied buzzing of insects and the dance of many colorful butterflies in the sunshine, enjoying this variety of roses.
It is indeed an old-fashioned and nurturing garden that welcomes with a smile and opens wide its arms in greeting.

"Rosenresli" is not a highly cultivated work of perfume art; rather, one also walked here along the paths of aromatherapeutic natural scents in its composition.
The film that gave this fragrance its name and marked the beginning of Christine's career (then still as a child star) was also meant to entertain the troubled people.
But is that something bad?
It is a scent-turned memory of a little girl learning to know and love roses.
This fragrant impression transports you to a rose garden that seems a bit out of time; over which a light veil of nostalgia has been tenderly spread.
Those who love sunlit roses are welcome and will gladly linger in this fragrant world.

I had returned the ordered perfume back then; despite careful packaging, damage had occurred; the bottle was leaking and thus too much of this rose scent greeted me.
Even the glass vial that had been included for testing (an idea that facilitated a potential return of the fragrance for both parties - customer and seller) I left with the small box.
It was all too rich for me: too much rose scent, too much beauty, too much rosy harmony!

Now one of those glass vials has just returned to me, and I tested it, this time accompanied by a feeling of nostalgic gratitude, and I found: I gladly linger in this rose garden.
Just for myself, to capture a piece of "Once upon a time," to inhale a long-forgotten familiar scent, and to let my dreams fly freely and detached from everything.

Actually, this bouquet of roses was supposed to appear on the occasion of my fifth "Parfumo" birthday; but it was simply too cold for me to stroll through this summery garden even in thought.
It is still cold, but today I let myself be guided by the memory that sometimes simply warms.
