A snapshot of the East
Shaikah is my pick from Al Rehab for a perfume oil that gives you the thrill of the East for pennies. Although clearly not made from any real rose or oud oils, Shaikah briefly pulls off such a convincing impression of an authentic rose-oud that I recommend it specifically to beginners who want to see a trailer of the genre before deciding to sit through the movie. (Note: Shaikah is not a replacement for better quality oils, of course. But it gives you a pencil sketch of the real thing and is therefore invaluable to people who want a taste of the East without committing too much time and money.)

The opening of Shaikah is sharply antiseptic, sour, and although not overly animalic or dirty, may prove a little offensive to noses not used to the smell of oud. The oud note is plonked down rather unceremoniously beside the rose and left alone to do their own thing, uncushioned by the usual Western airbags of vanilla or sugar. The rose is green, cutting, and bloodily metallic; the oud note chemical, medicinal, and austere. It is a fight to the death and both are wearing knuckle-dusters.

The sparring notes eventually pull themselves into a shape that works, the ancient pairing of rose and oud proving once again to be the most logical combination in perfumery. It is not sweet or creamy, but in its bluntness, achieves an authentically loud exoticism that one can well imagine billowing out from under the robes of men and women all across the Middle East.

Oud and rose with strong masculine tendancies
I'll do a proper review later, but I wanted to get some description down since there's no information here.

This is a very, very strong scent. It opens with a powerful, smoky Oud and Taif Rose. After an hour or so it settles on the skin. The rose and Oud are still prominent but there is now a really lovely woody base to it. I've seen this scent compared favorably to By Killian's Oud Musk. After a couple of hours the woody base is paired with spices (saffron maybe?). If you like Oud this is great. It has a very masculine vibe to it but can definitely be worn by a woman, though perhaps a woman may prefer Al Rehab Bakhoor Al Bahrain which is more fruity but still has that smoky oud.

Use a light hand, a little of this goes a very long way and it can be unpleasant in it's strength and intensity if you over apply.

An exquisite oil and an intense scent
A must-have half-oriental for me with the typical mysterious aura, enveloping, intense, and warm fragrance notes.

Shaikhah starts deeply pulsating with floral-spicy, noble soap. Like after a relaxing bathing ceremony in a cozy atmosphere.
It later becomes more robust and a bit darker but still remains fresh.
Agarwood is here softened with musk, sandalwood, and amber, bringing a slightly earthy-woody aspect.
It remains quite consistent until the end.
The roll-on in the glass bottle is well made.

Intense rose, spicy, woody, a tad sweet. The oud threatens to tip from unisex into masculine, but can be pulled off.

Not a scent for sensitive noses. Starts off menthol-like, then becomes softer and more oriental. If it's too strong, you're too weak!!!

Spicy-floral-sandalwood-herb scent, with a slightly minty-soapy opening, and strong performance.

Anyone who likes Nag Champa incense sticks will love this scent, and it's also cheaper! But it's not really oriental.

Floral, rather feminine scent that reminds me of classic women's perfumes, very pleasant and slightly woody. Takes a while to develop.
