Security in the moonlight
In fact, for a long time I wasn't sure whether to buy Moonlight. A blind buy, of course, as so often in this time of pandemic. I'm also not even sure if you can find the fragrance at all still in perfumeries to be able to try it.
I was particularly put off by the plum in the fragrance pyramid. I often do not get along so well with that. But when I read that Moonlight should have great similarity with Amo Ferragamo (currently my absolute favorite), I just had to strike.
To put it right up front: I can not see this similarity. But in order. My first fragrance impression was: oh no, bad buy! I love sweet scents, but I don't like heavy scents, rather the airy, fresh sweetness like in Ariana Grande's Sweet like candy. The sweetness I got here was heavy, dark, like a punch in the face. Definitely the plum! After about half an hour, marshmallow came through and the plum took a back seat. The peony was also slightly perceptible. From here on out, the scent became distinctly powdery-sweet. The whole thing toned down a bit more, vanilla coming in ever so gently. At this point, I was reconciled with the fragrance and could imagine that we become friends.
A few days later. Again, I reach for Moonlight. The second impression does not always correspond to the first - this is true for people and also for perfumes. And indeed: immediately after spraying on I am surprised. Positively surprised! The expected slap in the face doesn't happen, it seems nowhere near as heavy as when I first encountered it. (Does anyone have an explanation as to why this is sometimes the case? I always have to try a new scent twice. The first spray from a new bottle is often quite different.)
Still, I would rather not put Moonlight on in everyday life, unlike Amo Ferragamo, which is always wearable for me. Moonlight, in my perception, is something for the evening. I think of firesides, of a cozy date at a fancy restaurant with a familiar person. Not getting to know someone. Moonlight is security, not titillation of falling in love. It gets softer as it goes on, pleasing me more and more as a result. Yet it still remains easily perceptible.
No, it was not a bad buy. I like him, even if he probably will not be a favorite for me.
This is my first review, by the way, having only ever given statements before. I am open to and grateful for constructive criticism!
