...and every day the evening hour greets us.....
...Just like in the cinematic groundhog. Only this one is always a little different from the one before. Here and now it is summer. And pleasant weather. Not the great heat, thank goodness, with occasional showers, mostly in the afternoons or in the evenings.
And then a "kitchen of scents" emerges, at least near gardens, in parks, and everywhere it blooms. And roses grow. In many places, people are once again appreciating old fragrant varieties and prefer them to the often "thicker" flowered modern, often scentless variants.
For good reason. A rose should smell, it emphasizes its beauty. And the scent of roses calms and brings peace.
Especially generous in terms of olfactory gifts, they are, however, in the evening. And preferably after it has rained. Then the scent is most intense and lush. This creates an almost mysterious atmosphere. And when fresh earth, the densely leafed trees, and grass and woods contribute their aromas, coziness is guaranteed.
Until well after sunset. Sitting and enjoying in the garden, on a balcony, or a terrace in the evening is perhaps one of the most beautiful "activities" for body and mind.
The scents are sweet and bitter at the same time, spicy, fruity and earthy, fresh-moist and crackling dry, they have a woody quality and can almost seem smoky. Or warm and ambery underneath.
They can be very close and almost crawl into your nose. Or come from afar, so that they can only be sensed. Distance and closeness, day and night, the hour in between, the evening before and the night after. And always a little different...
There are scents that simply smell good. And there are those that can capture a situation, a time of day, or an event. This beautiful earthy-spicy-woody rose scent is one of them for me.
That does not want to imitate anything, but simply "is".....
