Perfect way to feel older ;)
Dry but deep,
witty yet comforting.

Primero Marocaine adds a touch of age to the wearer—in the best possible way. It's sophisticated, beautifully dark, and richly layered. Picture an old smoking room filled with whisky and cigars, tailored suits paired with silk cravats in rich oriental patterns. Along with the added maturity comes a quiet confidence. A fair trade, I’d say.

It’s much drier than Tobacolor—no honeyed sweetness, no juicy plum. Instead, it rests on a soft woody base that anchors a swirl of irresistible spices: bold cinnamon, warm saffron, earthy nutmeg, a whisper of vanilla.

Primero Marocaine flies under the radar—Douglas stocks it, TikTok ignores it. And honestly? That’s a bonus. More room for a fragrance that feels timeless.

It wears well and evolves beautifully on skin, like a Hollywood classic—always building, always intriguing, and yes, it ends well.

An easy pick for my gothic-leaning taste. But for someone with spring in their heart, this might be a challenge. It’s as autumn as it gets.

Spice market at sunset
Primero Marocaine is not a fragrance for everyday wear and certainly not one for the indecisive. From the very first spray, it is clear that you are entering another world. One whiff and suddenly you are standing in the middle of a Moroccan spice market. The air is heavy with vapors, resins and roasted spices. Everything smells intense, deep, rich. And at the same time warm, almost hypnotic.

The fragrance starts strongly. I immediately notice something resinous, perhaps frankincense or myrrh, accompanied by an oriental blend of spices. There is definitely cinnamon or clove involved, perhaps also something caraway-like. But the whole thing remains controlled, elegant, almost dark and shiny. No chaos, but a well-composed fragrance with a lot of character.

After a few minutes, a warm, almost velvety base comes through. I suspect oud, leather or something woody and balsamic. This depth lingers on the skin, accompanied by a slight sweetness that is not gourmand, but more like woods dipped in honey. The sillage is strong, the longevity very good. This is a statement fragrance that fills rooms and turns heads.

I only have one bottling, but even that hardly needs more than a spray. This is not for summer afternoons or the office. But in the evening, in cool air, at an event or if you just want to make your presence felt, Primero Marocaine is an impressive choice.

For me, this is a fragrance like an opulent carpet. Full, complex, artistic and certainly not for the background.

Spice heaven.
I think it's my first review of what is, for me personally, a men's fragrance but what a fantastic scent. Unique and so mature. If my husband didn't already have his shelf full of perfume, I would have bought him this scent immediately, I would sniff it all evening and I would be stuck to it like a limpet. The scent is so attractive. The fragrance just smells incredibly good..

The scent is super spicy but in a very soft, almost balsamic way. The Moroccan hashish with a good pinch of tobacco and lots of nutmeg makes the scent very spicy and super unique. I smell dry tobacco leaves sprinkled with nutmeg powder. A hint of cinnamon plays in the background. I can't smell the saffron.

In the drydown it becomes warm and woody from the most beautiful cedar wood note ever. I can barely smell vetiver and patchouli. In the base there is a lot going on from woody and vanilla notes but the scent remains spicy/woody with a lot of tobacco that almost goes in the dusty direction.

For me 100% a men's fragrance that is very mature, serious, super luxurious but still casual. If you know the series SUITS and know Harvey Specter, you just have to imagine Harvey smelling like he does when he's enjoying his 20,000 euro whisky and wearing his tailor-made suit, while still casually looking out of the window and thinking about his next case.

H+S very good. Please test it yourself, because I see that the baccarat rouge 540 is listed under similar perfumes. So the fragrance has zero, really zero to do with baccarat rouge, in my opinion ...

Primero Marocaine - an unknown treasure!
To be honest, I only really move in the "mainstream" niche world myself. But when I ordered Torino 21 back then, it came with a sample of this fragrance. It reminds me a lot of Tobacolor by Dior and Kilian Black Phantom, only without honey/caramel but with a load of wood instead. What can I say... It just smells incredibly good. Masculine, a little darker, perfect for the winter season. It's also not familiar, which is definitely a plus point for me.
