Artichoke Contrariness
"Sublime Molécule" - a strange name for a perfume. One immediately thinks of Geza Schön or Ferran Adrià, but it is clear that something different is meant here than molecular cuisine. Perhaps what the Duden defines as "sublime": "accessible only to a very fine perception." However, the perfume shows no mercy at first, no subtlety: leathery-woody and unfortunately quite piercing, the scent hits you right away. But immediately, the citrus notes, coriander, and pepper catch it and create a counterbalance to the slightly smoky leather. The scent does not undergo any significant development; it only becomes a bit woodier, a bit softer, and a bit airier over time, but remains cool and dry. Dark green notes waft through repeatedly. I was reminded of the aroma of spinach and artichokes that Vietnamese green tea sometimes has. I cannot detect rose or jasmine. Towards the end, vanilla comes into its own, fortunately without pushing itself to the forefront. I don't find this very original; smoky leather and vanilla have been done many times before. Still, it is quite nice, and it never becomes sweet. Everything is clean.
Recently, I tried an entire set of 15 fragrances from Arte Olfatto, of which only two products from this house convinced me (the friendly and original Bois Precious and the soft Ambre Dèlicieuse), while I found the rest boring, uneven, overloaded, too sweet, derivative, or simply nice but too expensive, each perfume featuring various combinations of these characteristics. However, "Sublime Molécule | ArteOlfatto - Luxury Perfumes" has something; it is definitely a quirky scent with character. The sillage is well dosed: you are noticed, but you are not a burden to anyone.
