Soft Musk That Comforts With Vanilla

I own two bottles of Soft Musk, an original from the 1980's and a newer one from the 1990's. The original from the 1980's is without a doubt the stronger formulation and has clearer notes in it. I get a sprinkling of all of the notes, a layering of florals, a hint of spices with a swoosh of warm vanilla enveloping it all in my original. They all blend easily enough to make a comforting scent that's not overbearing and gentle enough to wear for daytime use. The later rendition seems to be diluted and less stronger in the florals and spices and more powdery to me, which is still a nice, comforting scent. Lasts surprisingly long, a few hours, and the sillage is good with two sprays of the older bottle. A nice winter or cooler night air scent for any gender. If you able to find a box in your local thrift shop/flea market, check the date on it, or look at the bottle to see if it's an older one for comparison. Either way, a generally nice scent, but the older one is much stronger.

How I would have loved to hear this sentence back when I was a tender 12 years old. I can’t quite remember where I saw one for the first time. Well-groomed from head to toe. I was so impressed, completely taken away. How I would have loved to have a visit from such a well-groomed lady at our place. Sniffing the figures, trying out the colors. Unfortunately, they weren’t available to us. The first television was still in black and white. The advertisements were mostly in paper form. And the consultants only worked in the neighboring country. And just strolling over the border wasn’t as easy as it is today.
So many years have passed, and I had long forgotten the brand in the meantime. But when I found a few sweet figures from an old collection, the well-groomed and beautiful lady from back then was immediately present in my memory again.

And now, after so many years, I have her. Perhaps not even because of the scent, although I am surprised at how delicate and beautiful they still are. Today my expectations are certainly higher, but back then it would have been my greatest treasure. Not only because the figures are beautiful and bring joy, but also because the scent would have been quite wearable for a teenager.
A powdery, light musk scent rises to my nose. Delicate and well-groomed, like the lady from back then. Nothing sharp or hairspray-like is present for me.
Sure, a scent progression in the true sense is not given; it’s more like applying a lovely delicate cream. It’s not a luxury brand and perhaps not as sought after today as it was back then, but it doesn’t always have to be expensive luxury to bring joy.

Now I close my eyes, sniff my sweet figure, and hear from the distance of the past a pleasant soft voice, "Hello, your Avon consultant is here." Well, finally.

In the past...

... Avon was much more present than it is today. A colleague at my training company always brought along those colorful brochures, which became my reading material during lunch breaks. It was always exciting to see what kind of original bottles and jars the same products were packaged in and how wide the price ranges were between the original prices and the current special offers.
I don't even know if those colorful brochures still exist today, but back then I found them very interesting, and if I liked an offer, I would gladly order something.
I used to have Soft Musk as well and didn't think it was that bad. Some time ago, when I could get a set of EdT and deodorant for little money, I ordered it for my daughter because she found the descriptions quite appealing.
As soon as it arrived, my daughter sniffed it and had to realize that it wasn't really her thing - I could have told her that right away, but no one believes me.
Well, now I have a set sitting here that will probably never be used up.
Now I have a dear friend who wants to smell this fragrance too, so this morning I filled a little portion for her. I hope she enjoys it.
And since such filling actions never go without a mess, I now naturally have "Soft Musk" on my hands and T-shirt. I've already washed my hands; the T-shirt will go in the laundry later.
My hands still smell, and hopefully, it will come out of the T-shirt.
There isn't much to say about the fragrance itself - to me, it smells like a bygone era.
More specifically - like the hairspray that was sprayed in liters during that time.
And the scent lasts - just like the hairspray from that time - in any weather.
Somehow synthetic - it might be the aldehydes, but I've smelled less piercing ones. I haven't detected any woods, and musk is also forced in.
It's not for me, and my daughter doesn't like it either.
From now on, it can be found in the souk.

70s Memory

I still remember the scent from the 70s and 80s. This type of musk fragrances was quite popular back then. At that time, nobody knew anything about nitromusk compounds.
Now I have rediscovered it in a fragrance package, and I find it hasn't changed much since then. I always thought it was great on my mom.

Personally, I find it too sharp. I generally like woody scents and musk as well. However, this fragrance lacks a slight sweetness and floral notes. It could also be worn by men. My partner, however, almost gets a headache from it.

I found the longevity to be mediocre at just about 5-6 hours.
