Chrome as you are
When you think of fresh-aquatic fragrances, most people will probably think of Cool Water. After that nothing follows for a long time ... and then many will probably have Chrome from Azzaro in mind.

An eau de toilette that probably polarizes less, but doesn't exactly excite the masses either. It's just the spotlessly clean office fragrance, for warm days, when you want to be perfumed without attracting attention.

It starts - and that's really not a surprise - fresh, but without any citric tangyness or sea breeze chord. No, Chrome goes rather the harsh path and can hardly be identified except for the musk by the ingredients.

And yet musk from the heart note and in this intensity is quite unusual for a fresh fragrance. However, the spirit of the synthetic is easily seen around the corner.

I think Chrome is one of those fragrances that are so consensual because they hardly catch the eye, they seem a little stuffy but not old-fashioned, that you can give them away relatively safely if you want to give young people something from the perfumery for the job. In principle, one should not do this, but with this one is olfactorically secured from spring to autumn. Geeeee like.

Advanced chrome players will rather avoid chrome because it doesn't give enough and in the wide world of fragrances there are far too many really good alternatives to enjoy.

Efficient
Can a fragrance be efficient? And if so, when is a fragrance efficient? I think he is when he serves his purpose. And AC fulfills it. It cools the vehicle on the hottest summer days.

Does AC offer a sophisticated fragrance process? No. He doesn't have to. He is a super simple knitted summer companion that doesn't get on your nerves - uncomplicated. Free, fresh, happy.

It frees and refreshes, is reduced to the bare essentials. Not an olfactory painting that leaves much room for interpretation. AC is easy to interpret. He is straight ahead without digressions and to the point.

How can freshness be described? Even if it sounds banal: But AC is a standard fresh fragrance. The only undertone may be something slightly harsh to scratchy. No freshness with filigree aspects like a Bergamask by Orto Parisi perhaps. AC does not play in this league.

Still, I like him. Because he's such a refreshing, uncomplicated salesman. No more, but no less.

A wonderful fragrance... just before the end!
I remembered this classic from the time of its market launch, as somehow pleasant and unpleasant at the same time. Undeniably, he's got something special, but in the end I didn't touch it back then. And that's probably how it will stay - a good 20 years later, because

Azzaro's Chrome starts with a slightly citric-flowery freshness, but from the first moment on countered by a dull-metallic-synthetic note, which is somewhat irritating and unpleasant. Only after approx. 1.5 hours this aquatic sturgeon fire takes itself back gaaanz slowly a little, through what its perplexity more emerges, that cannot be found however in its pyramid rightly. All in all, the fragrance is more flowery than citric. And from the former he has (perhaps driven by the Hedion) for my feeling a little too much on board and becomes more sweet only after 3-4 hours when the amber joins the musk. But then he gets a little too sweet and his strange metal characteristic also flashes through again.

Conclusion: Chrome is quite extraordinary, but not automatically good. Because for me its course is too synthetic for 1.5 hours, then 3 hours too flowery and then 2 hours a little too sweet. Only after 6-7 hours, when it is barely perceptible, does Chrome suddenly appear pleasing, fine and balanced: all three effects, the alienating aquatics, the intrusive flower basket and the too sweet base are now milder, the mix of which ultimately makes this Frenchman fragrant. But then it is unfortunately too late for its durability, in order to score again correctly ... Too bad, because so Chrome would be a wonderful smell !

P.S. For those who like chrome, I also recommend the more balanced twin "Unpredictable"
in the fragrance process

Summer holiday 2018...
Planned were: 1 week Hamburg and in the direct connection with the airplane into the Marche region, the heart of Italy. Actually I wanted to wait until the Duty Free Shop. Actually. It came how it had to come. Great summer weather, a holiday mood and a small perfumery in the Hanseatic city added a surprising element to my trip: Azzaro Chrome. I'd already heard from him. I tested him without too many expectations. His spray cooled the surface of my hand. Suddenly he contacted me: "Well, finally you have discovered me! I'm going with you! When do we start? Of course we can make a jump on the way to my friends at the airport, I recommend you my holiday love Neroli Portofino. But all in confidence; -) And so it happened that Chrome, with his fresh and cool manner, cheated himself 2 Italian weeks before my other 5 fragrance companions and I, indulging in deep nostalgia, still like to apply him today. Very underrated, that little blue cheeky bastard.

Bad pun aside: The da has what on the box.
Already some time on the market, various flankers left and right. I would like to call him already a classic, even if he can probably not hold a candle to the Cool Water (no more puns, I promise).

Flacon comes along handsomely, the cap has the typical ripple pattern. However, the cap does not sit well throughout, so rather grab at the bottle. Spray head is ok. All in all, you can see him that he "comes from another time".
Quite different the fragrance:
A not-so-typical, fresh-aquatic fragrance that absolutely does not smell outdated or out of fashion. In the top note I guess aquatic notes, some ginger and trace bergamot, although the two notes are really VERY covered. The rest I can't sniff out more precisely with my still somewhat inexperienced nose. What does stand out, though, is a (as the name suggests) metallic note that also seems a bit synthetic and cool. It doesn't come across as distinctly citrusy, soapy or powdery. When I first tested Chrome, it immediately occurred to me that Chrome's opening smells like a subtle rainbow. A metallic rainbow...? Non-ferrous metal? Whatever. I had to have it immediately, even though I'm not usually so easily seduced by top notes. I didn't regret it. For my perception Chrome consists especially in the top note of so many different notes that complement each other perfectly.
The EDT then slowly fades in a slightly less fresh musk breath, which lags a little behind the fragrance from the top note in my opinion. The durability is not breathtaking (with me about 4 - 5 hours), Sillage also not too massive.

Chrome is not unique, but still different from most Aquaten and definitely worth a test.
My love for the Chrome of Azzaro is still unbroken, although the enthusiasm has decreased somewhat, since there are other Aquaten, which "can a little longer".

My conclusion: Not without reason a classic, certain recognition value with wonderful top note. For all those who like to smell a little metallic. Or after discreet rainbow ;)

A light, fresh, inoffensive aquatic. Somewhat synthetic, but a pleasant everyday scent for good weather. Clean, plain and unpretentious.

Probably my most complimented fragrance. The perfect, casual summertime scent.
Not the most interesting, but still very good.

Timeless fresh fragrance unfairly labeled generic due to it being aped so much since 1996! A less floral CK One with better far performance!
