Great for any occasion.

I really recommend this for anyone who is looking for a versatile fragrance that's not necessarily a "blue" fragrance.
It definite leans towards the fresh side of things, but the most noticeable notes aren't necessarily the ones found in popular blue fragrances.

And in that sense it's quite unique.

A safe "blue" fragrance

I blind bought this fragrance as I managed to get it for around £20 on Notino. I'm not much of a fragrance geek but have a fair few in my collection. For reference I am in my early 20s, and this bottle has a 2024 batch code.

If we start with the bottle, as always Bentley impresses with a beautifully designed bottle and quality cap, with a powerful atomiser.

When I first sprayed the fragrance I was slightly unimpressed, since I had read good things about the Black Edition online, and I wasn't sure what to think. However, I let it dry on my skin for around 30 minutes or so where it turned into quite a nice scent.

It is definitely a "blue" fragrance and reminds me a bit like the blue Radox shower gel you can buy in the supermarket, only with quite a bit more depth and sophistication - some people might find this off-putting, I actually think it smells very nice and would definitely be a safe fragrance for any occasion including the office. I don't particularly get the woody notes that others have described, although I can sort of envisage these if I smell hard enough.

In terms of sillage, I can definitely smell it around myself for 2-3 hours after spraying, and then either I go nose-blind or it becomes a skin scent...I'm not sure which however. It is a very pleasant smell and makes me feel clean, like I've just come out of the shower.

I also compared this to my bottle of Acqua di Gio Profondo EDP, and they smell extremely similar, one thing separating them being the large price difference, with Bentley for Men Black Edition being a lot more affordable for similar quality. I do think however that the Acqua di Gio has slight more depth and lasts very slightly longer, but to be honest, if you don't want to fork out £70 for the same liquid volume of ADG then you're not missing too much by getting this Bentley fragrance.

Overall, I would say this is a very safe buy if you like blue fragrances, something soapy and clean which can be used for any occasion and isn't offensive and I cannot see how it could be disliked in any way. It might be more suitable for use in the summer, however I personally like to use "blue" fragrances all year round and find that they last a lot longer on my skin in colder weather.

The office as his natural environment!

Since I have a lot of business contact with other people, I am constantly on the lookout for the ideal business scent, which must possess three essential attributes for my personal purposes:

1. It should not stand out too much and should not polarize.
2. It should smell high-quality without appearing extravagant.
3. It should signal professionalism, competence, and assertiveness.

Although these should by no means be unachievable requirements, the selection in my perfume collection turned out to be more difficult than anticipated. I tried many scents, but I was truly happy with none of them - until I finally discovered this Bentley!

Does this Bentley meet requirement number 1? Yes, it does! The base character, if you can call it that, is consistently a blue scent, also fresh, you could say, as it has a hint of pepper added. So nothing that smells extraordinary. Nothing that could be perceived as provocative in any way. A composition that is appreciated by the vast majority of potential colleagues or business partners, as it conveys cleanliness and "well-groomedness."

Does this Bentley meet requirement number 2? Yes, it does that too! The composition does not come across as overtly synthetic; all the ingredients feel valuable. Nothing stands out; the perfume feels rounded and balanced. Violet and papyrus notes contribute to a high-quality scent DNA. With this Bentley, you will never be suspected of wearing a cheap drugstore fragrance among your colleagues.

Does this Bentley meet requirement number 3? Yes, ultimately it does that as well! Why? Because it is indeed more than just a fresh blue scent, which would lack this character trait. It has a slightly smoky quality. Smoky, not in the sense of a mysterious or profound smokiness, but just a touch of smoke that conveys strength and seriousness. The wood also comes into play here, further emphasizing the serious claim of this perfume.

From my perspective, this Bentley is clearly underestimated for exactly the professional business requirement! Since I had the pleasure of getting to know it, it has happily accompanied me in the office and on business trips. A clear recommendation for all those who would like to try something different than Prada l'Homme or Acqua di Gio in the office. Positive side effect: This Bentley is also cheaper.

Black Papyrus

Finally, a fragrance that smells better throughout the day.
Benito 0607 hit the nail on the head with his comment. For me, it is definitely not an unbalanced scent. The fine woods, papyrus, and a certain peppery, light freshness stand out here.

Not for boys, definitely only for men this fragrance.
A very good noble scent. Straightforward and with edges.
I think that's great.
If it had Creed on the label, most people would buy and appreciate it.
I appreciate it just the same... Super Bentley.

Freshly Showered in the Joinery

Somehow, I had expected more from Bentley for Man Black Edition. After the reviews here and the low price, I was tempted to make a blind buy. As an everyday scent, and also for work, it’s still acceptable, but otherwise?? Maybe also for an environment where one would otherwise completely forgo perfume.....
The opening reminds me of a hand sanitizer we had at the beginning of the Corona crisis at work. Then comes the smell of sawn wood, typical of a joinery. And along with it, a fresh shower gel! The overall scent is for me like someone freshly showered walking through a joinery or a paper warehouse. Or someone had been in the room wearing Encre Noire (But Bentley belongs to Lalique. Maybe it runs in the family). Not unpleasant, but also nothing that would lead to applause.
The longevity on my skin is very poor! Maximum two hours, and I had already sprayed quite generously! I have this problem with most blue scents that unfortunately don’t last on me :-(
This is now my fourth Bentley for Men. The Azure is already quite weak, but for a summer scent, still acceptable; but I wouldn’t have thought that the Black Edition would be so weak after all the comments here. Maybe it needs a bit more warmth? I’ll keep an eye on it. For me, the weakest Bentley in my collection.
