Heavenly Curse of Flowers
It is not pirates, but flowers, to be precise: a heavenly olfactory flower monster made of lily of the valley, tuberose, jasmine, and ylang-ylang (in that order), that attacks my skin and transforms the room I am in into a glorious sea of blossoms when I spray Pirates 2.0 on my wrist or ear.
Anyone expecting a dark, wild sound of the sea, dirty pirates, barrels of whiskey, treasures of gold, wine, women, men, or singing due to the name of the fragrance will be bitterly disappointed.
If anything, one could compare Pirates 2.0 to a treasure chest that a bunch of pirates - who haven't washed in weeks - have stolen from a ship coming from the Netherlands and transported to the sunny island of Tortuga to greedily open it. However, when they succeed, they are met with a completely different kind of treasure:
First, a fresh bergamot, enchantingly natural lily of the valley, and exotic-creamy-green tuberose greet them, followed by the sweetness of a pear, and then sweetly narcotic floral scents of jasmine and ylang-ylang, before lightly woody amber and sweet musk join in, completely intoxicating the pirates. A floral spirit has jumped out of the chest. The bestial body odor of the unwashed has vanished. Instead, Pirates 2.0 radiates on the skin for hours. Like an olfactory curse, the floral scent follows the pirates, who cannot manage to wash it off.
Pirates 2.0 enchants their hearts, makes them laugh, drink, and be merry, and so they carry the intoxicating scent until they find or conquer another.
The scent will likely appeal more to the female and diverse species than to the male, and correspondingly, they will wear it more often.
I love wearing the fragrance in spring and in the cooler summer.

The Schizophrenia of Perfumery
I was excited about the Pirates Collection… elegant, black bottles, great presentation, and fragrances with depth…
The pirate… dirty, rotten, sailing on an old, wet, wooden ship, always with tobacco at hand, the bottle of rum at the ready, the plundered barrels in the damp hold below deck. The only water the pirate encounters is the raw spray of the vast, salty sea…
So a mix of "Parfums de Havane - Cubata | Jacques Zolty", "Parfums de Havane - Severo | Jacques Zolty", Megamare and Squid
So off to the sea with hooks out to board and the first sprays hit the skin of the pirate!

But wait a minute… what is this now?

A warm, fruity-citrusy, almost sparkling beginning… there’s something floral mixed in, something sweet. It smells fresh, clean, Mediterranean. A woman in a freshly washed white dress with fresh floral adornments in her hair wanders through the orchard in Tuscany towards the evening sunset.
A wonderful composition, long-lasting and quite radiant, more for women, but also wearable by men.
But now hold on again… We are still with the pirates…
What is going on here?
You can imagine two scenarios from the creation at Byron:

1. The sociable group of creators, the opinion is clear, a fragrance must be made, it should be called Pirates. Suggestions are accepted, they agree to fill this black bottle with pirate water. The rum flows and everyone is satisfied with the choice.

2. The same group, they have a great fragrance ready, but a name is still missing. Various suggestions are made, the rum flows and the most inebriated creator comes up with the name… PIRATES *hic* Everyone is ecstatic, the choice is made.

In both scenarios, I can't quite get into the minds of Byron.
Actually a great company and this perfume presented here is awesome, not to mention the bottle.
But seriously, how on earth did the combination of perfume and name come about??????

Initially juicy and fruity-sweet, this creamy/sweet oriental fruity-floral Fall fragrance, settles to a warm and gentle musky-woody base.

Creamy sunscreen with ylang-ylang & tuberose on golden sweet amber. Quite pleasant, but not reinventing the wheel.
