We're Getting Married!
Yes, this is it. I have searched high and low for the perfect dirt, wood, grass, and leaves fragrance. Technically, I was searching for a fragrance reminiscent of a compost pile but this is close enough. Oh dear, this one is giving my #1 stiff competition.I am so in love with Tauer Verdant but this piece of work has me begging for more. Is this legal, to fall in LOVE with an inanimate object?

If not, then I must say that I just broke the law because this powerful dirt bomb and me just got hitched! We will be together forever and live happily ever after.

Nightly Hunt from Tartu to Tallinn
‘Wild Hunt’ and ‘Forest’ - apparently, there are two names commonly associated with this fragrance. What could be more fitting (at least for a friend of unconventional introductions) than to link these terms textually and invoke a wild hunt through a forest as an entry point? Especially since on the manufacturer’s page, where the fragrance is listed solely as ‘Wild Hunt’, clicking on “The Story” opens an empty field…. I gladly jump into the breach!

Estonia, October 1994: After a visit to Tartu, three German students set off in an ancient borrowed Škoda (= Lada) on the way back to Tallinn, with the chronicler at the wheel. A mere 200 kilometers - no problem, right? Although the road, despite being the connection between the two largest cities in the country, was at times more of a track, we had made the outward journey safely.

However, in daylight. Now it was already dark, and the dim little lights of the vehicle illuminated the path, which for long stretches was unlit through the forests, only inadequately. There was no chance to spot obstacles like larger potholes or branches in time, and our speed dwindled to that of a jogger.

At some point, lights appeared in the rearview mirror, a car quickly closed in and overtook us at a truly insane speed. A safety locomotive! With practically the gas pedal floored, I sped after it until we reached better-lit areas. Sweaty work.

We understandably had little experience of the forest back then. So what? That was indeed an unconventional introduction.

And now finally to the fragrance. It actually smells like a decaying pile of leaves. I turn over a layer of it on top, beneath which a white layer of mushrooms has settled, the scent of which, gently lifted by the escaping heat of decomposition, also rises to my nose.

This foliage had definitely made the journey from green to brown while still on the tree. Nothing like “heat of a summer afternoon,” as it says on the manufacturer’s page under “The Scent” - I’d gladly revise that passage… This here is a pile of fallen leaves in the advancing autumn. It’s not really cold yet, just the nights are fresh. And this morning, on a morning that promises to be the start of a dreary autumn day, the breath condenses in the surrounding air.

Diligent worms, insects, and microbes have been tirelessly working in the past weeks to transform the spent leaves back into their original state, at the bottom of the pile the boundary between leaves, compost, humus, and soil is already blurred.

Speaking of mushrooms: Certain parallels to #215 CBMUSK from the same house come to mind, which smelled somewhat similar at times - as if mushrooms had settled on a comfortably weathered tree trunk.

That’s basically it. Regardless of the wide range of descriptions, I remain predominantly, for hours, with a pile of decaying leaves. It becomes a bit milder and slightly creamier later on, the proximity to #215 increases throughout the day. At least that’s how it seems to me; I had no desire to use the annoying comparison again. The main difference is the impression of damp earth or rather compost in this case. And that also fades away during the afternoon. A fragment of a musky, mushroomy something remains, which additionally has a hint of sweet, sugary coniferous woodiness towards the end. By evening, the fragrance has almost completely disappeared.

Conclusion: #704 Wild Hunt is quite lifelike; by no means unpleasant, especially for a country bumpkin like me. Fun for garden enthusiasts. Just not a perfume in the strict sense, but simply a scent. It has hit one theme - and thus missed the other.

I thank Bartholomeo for the sample.

"Breathing in the forest means - inhaling your spirit"
"Scent is life," says Christopher Brosius, an extroverted and highly awarded perfumer of innovative and unusual fragrances. With "Wild Hunt," this artist created an olfactory homage to the forest, "the scent of an ancient forest in the heat of a summer afternoon," as stated on the CB I Hate Perfume homepage - and this forest truly comes alive!

"Wild Hunt" is a true work of art, a fragrance that enchants the senses and paints an incredibly detailed picture of a fairy tale forest, inviting you on a journey into the realm of trees and leaves, of tranquility and security, and the protective refuge of nature. Here, the trees intertwine their branches, and what one calls inner peace unfolds in its most beautiful splendor - this scent is enchanting!

Wild Hunt is cool and gentle, it embodies a beautiful freshness, without any zesty or refreshing notes, rather like morning dew, a cool breeze of mountain air, or a shady spot in the midst of a great, powerful forest. I smell damp black earth, earth-colored leaves adorning the ground, lush moss on untouched tree bark, decayed branches, powerful dark green, and cool earthy brown, pristine mushrooms far from the beaten paths, the scent of coniferous trees soaking up the warmth of the sun, I smell nature in its purest form, I practically inhale it and experience it.

Wild Hunt is incredibly authentic, so unmistakably empirical, it captivates without any resistance. This fragrance is the ticket to a world where one can be a child, far from stress and disputes, protected and enveloped by trees and leaves, a scent that everyone carries within themselves and that is surely worth safeguarding - the personal ticket to carefree joy.

As with many fragrances of this kind, the big question of wearability arises. What similar attempts from the houses of Demeter & co. often miss, has been achieved remarkably well here. Especially the coniferous accords and the woody scent components make Wild Hunt definitely wearable - not a fragrance for business and office, but rather dedicated to private hours of personal development and reflection. However, one cannot speak of a pure "art fragrance" here; Wild Hunt skillfully combines the great achievement of a bottled feel-good natural scent, as well as the characteristic of a quiet, yet very unusual earthy-green niche fragrance for both men and women.

Wild Hunt is available as "Perfume absolute" in a 15ml bottle and as "Water Perfume" in a 100ml bottle. Unfortunately, the longevity of the Water Perfume does not win any awards here; all those who want to enjoy the full extent of the liquid forest should rather opt for the concentrated version.

CONCLUSION: Those seeking the olfactory embodiment of an idyllic forest have found their master here; those looking for a dark, cool, and earthy fragrance can test it with confidence; and those who want to experience the scent intoxication of Mother Nature and enter her mystical majestic enchanted forest, should start pressing the pipette - and if you are not willing, then I must use force.

Who has you, beautiful forest.....
Wild Hunt is now the third Earth scent from CB that I am testing, and by far the most beautiful. While Black March was the gardener's greenhouse and Under the Arbor simply represented damp earth with a bit of wood, Wild Hunt immediately gives me the feeling of relief that I experience when I enter a dense mixed forest. Cool and warm at the same time, as strange as that sounds, incredibly aromatic and enveloping.
In this forest, the sun shines and creates a pattern on the rich, springy forest floor with golden speckles. Yes, if I smell closely, I can even hear birds chirping, and even though it is not indicated in the pyramid, there are also a few flowers blooming in this forest.

The theme of the forest is perfectly realized. However, I find neither wildness nor a connection to hunting in this scent. There are no predators here, and it does not rot darkly away. I do not find it mystical, but rather comforting and enveloping. I would certainly wear this perfume, probably like Taake, especially in private. I will not be purchasing it. Not because I do not want it, but because there are so many other scents that I desire more. But I am very glad to have gotten to know it.

Moist Earth
Based on the review of my predecessor, I ordered three samples of "CB I hate perfume" from "sündhaft." After a somewhat longer wait, the three samples arrived carelessly packaged in my mailbox. No letter, nothing but the samples. Admittedly, I didn't order more, but when you do the same at ALZD, you experience the small
but fine difference. Sorry, the CI needs some work here...

My expectations were quite high, as I have been dealing with the topic of "forest scent" for some time now. In my opinion, "He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood" has come closest to this, but I am open to being swayed.

I applied the cheeky roll-on and BOAAAHHHH!
If you want to know what Wild Hunt smells like, and I consciously say "smells" here, imagine you are in the forest, lying on the ground, and making a pretty little pile with your hands out of all the ingredients you can find there, adding a bit of water and burying your face in it.
Wild Hunt is a two-dimensional scent that delivers a perfect copy of a moist forest floor. But anyone who moves through the forest in an upright position knows that there are many other scents to discover. Namely, those in the air. Coniferous trees, deciduous trees, flowering shrubs, a stream-all of this, including the earthy ground, creates the unmistakable forest scent. Here, only the ground floor has been interpreted, but in an unprecedented perfection.
Personally, I find "Wild Hunt" a bit too morbid, and its longevity is unfortunately very low due to the water base. I have never attended a hunt and probably never will voluntarily... so I can't say exactly how much time one spends on the ground, but I have seen high stands...

Humid soil, moist and rotting leaves and branches, some greenery. Invokes the feeling of being in the forest after the rain.

Not Odin's hordes, but a shy forest assistant explains the forest floor to you.
It lasts at most an hour! What a pity!
