Quintessence of Spring
One of my all time favorites, if not the number one fragrance in my collection: Cologne Française by Celine.
Celine is one of the most underrated designer houses when it comes to their perfume line. I honestly don’t know why, to me they make a lot of unique smells, a lot of them are iris-inspired but are super versatile and smell unique. They’re less popular probably due to the fact that they’re extremely hard to find outside their own Boutiques (compared to Chanel or YSL for example that I’ve seen selling their private collections at different retailers).
This perfume smells like something I’ve never tried before in my life: it is earthy, but not what you would typically expect from an earthy fragrance (vetiver/oud/smokiness/iso E/etc.). It has moss, fig tree and neroli combined with orris, all is so well-blended and balanced that I can’t really get any single note from there. Neroli freshness, fig tree tartness and earthiness from iris and moss create really interesting and unique blend.
It reminds me strongly of the early spring when the sun is shining without overheating the soil and the first plants start slowly waking up after the long winter sleep.
I recommend everyone who has the possibility of going to one of the Celine’s boutiques to actually go and try out everything they have.
