Oddball
In a timeframe of two to three hours, Par 4 performs a number of jumps in the fragrance wheel. Green, citrus, aromatic fougère, woody amber. It is this type of perfumes that proves the pointlessness of trying to fit every thing into a distinct category. Can't put a label on artistic creations. Michael Edwards, who has made pigeonholing a profession, put this in the "woods" section... Whatever..

The progression through the different phases may be fascinating, but none of the individual stages really feels enjoyable. Acceptable basil-aromatics top, mediocre clary sage-saffron heart and an okay labdanum-vetiver in the end. Not bad in any way, but not convincing either.

Very helpful Review 10
I have played golf - what a wonderful memory.
I will play golf - anticipation like no other.
I am golfing - hell on earth.

Par 4 refers to a golf hole that can be played by a good player in four strokes. From the tee to the fairway, onto the green, and then two putts.

However, with not a few golfers, not only the ball flies off the tee but also a divot (piece of grass). The ball does not land on the fairway (the short-mown area), but in the semi-rough or even in the rough (medium to high grass) between the trees. With the right technique, one could get out of here cleanly. But with the right technique, one wouldn’t have ended up there in the first place, which is why it has to be directed with force. So, the wedge is swung boldly, and one watches in disbelief as the ball heads towards either the bunker or a water hazard.

My Par 4 is not always controlled, a green where pieces of grass fly, where one fights with the grasses between trees and occasionally stands in sand or water. Not so with Par 4 from Detaille. The scent is anything but sporty, not dynamic, and only vaguely green.

Par 4 starts aromatic-fresh. The hint of fresh bergamot is wrapped in a sweet-spicy cloak of basil oil, resinous-bitter thyme, and saffron. The lavender-like aroma of the clary sage is clearly perceptible. Light amber notes resonate through. The resin of the cistus seems to have stored the sun of the south and now wants to release it slowly but steadily in the base. The mixture of labdanum and woods is woody warm.

A classic, very stylish fragrance. With its soft, warm tones, the scent feels sensual and elegant at the same time. The resinous notes make it appear somewhat more masculine. However, with its soft side, it should also suit women well. A fragrance that perfectly matches cashmere sweaters and club blazers in golf clubhouses but is less suited to polo shirts on the green. Despite the differences in scents, the wearer of Hermès Rocabar or Fougère Royal is likely to find enjoyment in Par 4 as well.

PS: Those who want to know more about the House of Detaille and the outer appearance of the men's fragrances will find it in my comment on Detaille's Escrimeur.

A Real Men's Fragrance :)
Well, I personally love classic men's fragrances :) A bit resinous, a bit fresh, but still masculine and strong. Par 4 clearly meets all these criteria for me.
This is a scent that I enjoy smelling on men in suits.
It lasts really long and leaves a fresh, grassy scent.
I just read the story about the company :) ...and it all started with the automobile :)

Starts off nicely herbal,
then it turns sweet-floral,
but where does it come from?
Saffron does more harm than good to the vetiver.

Harmlessly green
Not spicy at all
Somehow lightly creamy
In the end, rather generic
None of the notes are discernible

As much as I was thrilled by the "Escimeur," the "Golf scent" leaves me untouched. It's somehow got a bit of everything +

Can't compete with "Aéroplane | Detaille," the classic from 1927: green, floral sweet, a bit powdery, subtly resinous.

A cut from the kitchen herbs
Pure into the geraniums
Putting on saffron shoes
Is soap moss on the 8th green
Resins and grasses really hold back

Aromatic fougère with labdanum and herbs. I don't like it, too indecisive, fresh or dusty, spicy or sour? Who knows?

A beautiful yet unusual saffron twist, transparent and light. Despite its masculine aspects, it's definitely wearable unisex.

The initially grassy-green freshness quickly drifts into a powdery-floral mossiness.
It feels elegant to me, yet somewhat insignificant.
