A Beautiful Saffron Lemon Cake Scent

Now I am looking at a sample of "Majestic Saffron | Duftanker MGO Duftmanufaktur," which I ordered directly from Duftanker. I really liked the scent, and its longevity on my skin is about 12 hours. I also find the sillage quite successful.

The top note actually reminds me of a sweet lemon cake with plenty of saffron - it's exciting but also really delicious! Bitter oranges are also present, adding a certain freshness. The heart note continues to smell spicy with saffron but also has an oriental touch with cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and a hint of nutmeg. Nagarmotha also brings a nice leatheriness. As I continue to sniff, floral hints of lavender, geranium, and a bit of rose emerge. The base smells woody-resinous with cedarwood, oud, and sandalwood. A finely ambered sweetness joins in as well. Saffron continues to resonate here.

I must say, there are quite a few scents from Duftanker that I truly find beautiful. The Majestic Saffron is one of them.

Fanfare! The grand double doors to the throne room open, and His Majesty Saffron IV appears. Majestically, he takes his place and sits on the expansive throne. The shining bitter orange fanfares and citrus trumpets finish playing their welcome music. His Majesty's robes are not opulent, but selected elegantly, exuding a herbaceous-bitter and only very slightly medicinal scent.
The walls are not adorned with tapestries; instead, the wall panels are made of beautiful light woods, partially covered with silk. An elegant and impressively bright throne room.
Two rows of simply and lightly dressed children carry lavender bouquets and line up in the background. The audiences begin.
Later, court ladies in very discreet silk dresses carry baskets filled with dried geranium, patchouli leaves, and fragrant wood shavings, placing them at the sides...

I am thrilled: This scent is completely unsweet and bitter. At the beginning, the saffron appears very clear and present, accompanied by a slightly bitter-herbaceous note and soon a truly bitter citrus from the bitter orange. After 15 minutes, it becomes a bit fresher and more translucent for the involved lavender. It remains stable for a while, with quite a decent sillage.
After about 2 hours, it becomes calmer, closer to the skin, and the other participants reveal themselves: geranium, cedar, amber, musk. Oud is only very lightly present. It remains herbaceous, clear, and fine with a (really very light) sweet silky foundation. This Majesty, with its great authority, does not need to demonstrate power by banging loudly on the drum or shouting.

Interestingly, it is rated very differently here. On one hand, it only works if you like saffron, that is clear. But otherwise, the comments present a mixed picture. I am pleased that I do not experience the intrusive, piercing notes described by some.

Very, very finely composed! This is the second scent from Duftanker MGO that I am testing after "Sunshine Oud | Duftanker MGO Duftmanufaktur," and I like it very much. The brand seems to be something for me.

I had higher hopes for this....

Based on the name, I ordered the fragrance blindly. "What could possibly go wrong with saffron scents?" I thought. Saffron is one of my absolute favorite fragrance notes, regardless of concentration or combination; all the saffron fragrances I have smelled so far have been impressive.

Unfortunately, this fragrance is different, as it does not convince me. Perhaps my expectations were too high... I don’t know.

I find that the saffron does not come through, despite the name. Instead, there is a piercing dish soap note that really ruins everything. For hours, it only smells of citrus notes... but not even positively fresh, rather that kind of fresh that you hang in the toilet to keep it "fresh." I don't know what one thinks when combining saffron with fresh notes... but I do not like the result.
I don’t know if this is due to the saffron, but I get a strong hospital note. Disgusting.

You can't complain about the longevity - but you would expect that from an Extrait de Parfum. The fragrance has no sillage. Even immediately after application, it is only perceptible close to the skin.

For the price asked and based on the name (both of the perfume and the perfumer), I had unfortunately hoped for more....
