Competent but uninteresting
Champs de Provence starts with a promisingly citrus-herbaceous zing, but then deteriorates into woody-floral mediocrity with a nose tingling overdose of ambroxan. 2 sprays on my wrists lasted at least 6 hours. At the end of its lifespan, the ambroxan makes it indistinguishable from a myriad of other male-marketed fragrances.

When the sun goes to sleep...
"Champs de Provence" is a chill fragrance, if I may quote today's youth. Laidback, relaxed, chillaxed, and pleasant could also describe it, risking a slip into even worse realms of youth language. This Eight & Bob has very little hyper-modern, cool, or hip elements. It feels like an old Southern European during siesta.

Stylish, summery, juicy. From orange comes orange blossom, and from that ambroxan musk. Transparent, bright, clear. Completely relaxed and at peace with itself. Certainly a bit lacking in "Provence" (you'll search in vain for lavender), and also somewhat lacking in pizzazz - but overall a companion I enjoy having around and showcasing. Especially on warm summer nights. With it, one can do little wrong. At most, one might not stand out. But you will rarely, if ever, hear anything negative about it. From any generation, from grandma to daughter. Only we olfactory nerds might grumble, as it hardly surprises us or feels too dull. But we are just a tiny fringe group.

Bottle: green & good
Sillage: discreet to barely noticeable. Very restrained. A scent almost exclusively for the wearer.
Longevity: unfortunately just about 5 hours

Conclusion: a delicate, overripe mandarin, infused with transparent herbs (basil!) and earthy nuances. Not spectacular, but to my taste quite pleasing and easy to wear. Solid!

Provence without Lavender Fields

A perfume that dedicates itself to the theme of the fields of Provence, yet manages to do so without the absolutely typical lavender of this region, is quite bold. Or perhaps ignorant or poorly researched?

This would be somewhat comparable to a scent about Tuscany without pines or cypresses, or Sicily without citrus notes. Something would definitely be missing. Nevertheless, Champs de Provence comes across as relatively authentic despite the missing lavender. At least it evokes a bit of wanderlust, certainly towards Provence or other similarly structured regions, where the sun shines and where green shady spots, along with relatively intact nature, invite relaxation and tranquility.

Champs de Provence feels extremely familiar, like a blend of Jardin Sur Le Nil and Eau de Campagne. For those who feel comfortable with these two creations, this fragrance would also be a recommendation.

The fresh-citrusy opening with slightly bitter-green accents makes it clear where the journey is headed: to a refuge where one can simply let their soul dangle. What bothers me a bit is a significant hint of white floral notes. Although not listed, it cannot be denied. Pear as an ingredient is only minimally perceptible, while orange blossom is much more intense.

A little later, a pleasant soapy nuance joins in, reminiscent of those handmade French Savons de Marseille that can be purchased at various markets. This makes the illusion of Provence much more vivid.

Since I personally cannot perceive Ambroxan, I am unfortunately unable to judge how natural Champs de Provence actually comes across. From my subjective perception, however, it is very good. The relatively long-lasting nature, in my opinion, might be a downside.

Regardless - the association with a positive feeling, especially an imagined olfactory short trip to Provence, sitting under trees at a white-covered table with wine, bread, and cheese, while gazing at the landscape and enjoying a soothing breeze on a summer day, is achieved. What more could one want - except perhaps a few spritzes of lavender?

Nice summer fragrance, the orange lasts a long time on clothes which is unusual for citrus. Like.

Tart orangey cologne backed by big white florals. Fresh, vibrant juicy pear & citruses, full-bodied jasmine, a soft green mossy undertone.

An unconventional blend of classic cologne in the opening and an animalistic musk base. In between, there are indolic flowers.

Absolutely unisex. Orange blossom neroli freshness, sweet lemon candies, and soft green notes. Overall rather subtle, but finely summery.

O-Blüte, pear-like, gets a boost to indolic mustiness. Nice top note meets a seriously synthetic base. Better on fabric than on skin.

If the fields of Provence smell like this, then good night! Smells like stale flower water with a dull synthetic grapefruit-like note.

Nonsense men's fragrance, 100% unisex + O-flower/Neroli at a tolerable intensity. Jasmine delicate, pear no. Great mate/moss finish. Name is confusing.
