Only for the vetiver lover
Molecule 03 is an intense smokey, vegetal vetiver scent - to my nose along the lines of the vetiver profile in Les Exclusifs de Chanel Sycomore but much, much stronger, more pungent, and almost body odor/musky in nature. In my opinion Molecule 03 is a scent for the vetiver connoisseur who is confidant and doesn't care what other people think because it seems to be very off putting to everyone else (maybe because the vetiver has no other notes to balance or soften the strong vegetal, body odor-ish scent profile).

Molecule 03 is an underrated gem that should be experienced by every vetiver lover.

Vetiver Experience
Bottles are lined up before my nose. Small, large, pipettes here and scent strips there. Vetiver from different regions, from various producers, and vetiver of different scents. The seller beams from ear to ear. I have to go, but that doesn’t seem to matter much in light of vetiver. Smell this one and take a whiff of that one. I recoil in horror, and the seller bursts out laughing. Is this the stuff that perfume dreams made with vetiver are made of? No, I don’t think so, my conversation partner says and disappears briefly to return with two more bottles. What’s in there, I want to know, because the incense from the last bottle still lingers in my nose. No panic, the bottle is full of elegance and even has a hint of grapefruit note. He beams and holds vetiveryl acetate under my nose, and now it finally becomes clear to me why one of my favorite scents, which according to the advertisement is supposed to consist of just one chemical substance, smells like so much more than just that one substance called vetiveryl acetate. And that one? What do you have in the second bottle? Vetiveryl acetate for the poor. Look, even the chemical substances don’t all smell the same. Phew, this one has a slight vinegar note. Exactly. Is it old? No, no. Just cheap. There are huge differences here too. But the stuff from Molecule 03, that’s cool. A single substance with so much richness, and many people always claim that these artificially produced fragrance components are always inferior to the natural ones. Yet Molecule 03 smells like wood, it has something rooty, then there’s the grapefruit, and if you wait longer, it reveals itself, in my opinion, as a slightly ethereal skin scent. That was the keyword. Do you want to smell a new musk? No, I have to go.
But I will remain curious. Promise, he asks me as a farewell. Promise.

Vetiver pure amidst scratchy-green wilderness, energetic minerality, and strict medicine
Until now, I was only familiar with Geza Schön's animalistic, rough-and-tumble creation "Kinski," which I believe fits the actor well, but skims the edge of public unacceptability.

"Molecule 03" now aims, like the rest of the series, to emphasize and highlight the pure, clean, singular essence of a fragrance, here Vetiver.

Wow, this scent packs a punch.
What wafts towards you is so concentrated that it is akin to an Eau de Parfum; also, the longevity, I should mention upfront, lasts from morning until the evening hours.

Vetiver lovers should take note here, as one has probably never experienced Vetiver so concentrated and intense in a fragrance. Sure, Guerlain's "Vetiver" from 1959 is probably the closest relative, but here we have an even more extreme variant.

I don't want to talk about phases; the scent is suddenly present and remains what it is for several hours, only slowly fading. Of course, it’s just one ingredient.

The Vetiver is wild, unrestrained, bold.
Pure plant-based, very green wilderness, thoroughly grassy, initially almost strict, even slightly bitter in a medicinal sense, mineral (though it somewhat reminds me of an exaggerated "Terre d'Hermès"), a bit scratchy, bone-dry earthy, ferny, and herbal - in short: a bit of all of the above.

And it fills the room. Ever-present. Omnipotent in its penetrating plant-green, at times smoky-resinous projection.

For me, it's far too much, too concentrated, too overwhelming, too intrusive, too medically inclined, too conceptually strict.
But for a Vetiver lover, perhaps, it could open their heart.

Hey Vetiverylacetat !! Give it some gas !!
I love vetiver.

In any form.
Dry. Dusty. Earthy. Fresh. Spicy. Woody. Resinous. Sweetish. Musty. Sour. And so on and so forth …

But this one, well, it just doesn’t work at all!

One thing first:
This is not a "perfume" in the true sense.
Most people are probably aware that G. Schön's Molecule 03 contains only one olfactory value giver, namely vetiveryl acetate.

In this respect, one can still consider this circumstance/fact as a benevolent excuse.
The design or the print design of the bottle adds a few percentage points. Although, when I think about it … it doesn’t really deserve that either.
Given the fact that there is no cap for the spray head.

Of course, one could interpret this as a minimalist overall concept.
"Less inside - less outside".
The creator must have had a reason for it.

So much for that. Let’s move on and that’s it …
Now to the main point.

After spraying, it goes directly to the point without any detours.
And I mean that in the truest sense of the word.

You have to imagine it like this:

M03 (Molecule03) is a car.
No, not the kind that most perfume lovers, including myself, have in the garage.
No, not even a BMW M3 …

More like a vehicle in the direction of a "dragster".
Something with horsepower numbers in the four-digit range.
Appearance and design: Well, … with that engine, who cares!

Before the actual start, you intentionally warm up the usually meter-thick tires with "burns" to get more grip.
Announcer: “Drivers! Warm up the Tires!”

M03 goes full throttle, the driver is on the front wheel brake.

(Do you have that image in your head??)

The cylinders with displacements as large as buckets do their job and get the tires moving and smoking.
Thick white smoke rises. Almost nothing of the vehicle is visible anymore.

It smokes and steams and smokes and steams …

And this goes on as long as the driver accelerates and/or releases the brake he is standing on.

That’s exactly what happens with Molecule 03.

It smells like rubber, burnt rubber!
No wood, no mustiness, nothing green (and no meadows or flowers)
- just burning, smoking rubber!

Full throttle without changes until the end!

No development until the bitter end!

The end?

The end!!

Engine damage.

(What a shame…)

Useful
Yes, a perfume can indeed be quite useful. Especially when it is as - apparently - one-dimensional as this one. Applying Excentric Molecule No. 3 on its own works, you just shouldn't overdo it. One spray is enough, the scent lasts long and is piercing/fresh/citrusy-sharp.

I use it if one of my countless sample vials comes off too floral/sweet. A little spritz here and there solves the problem and occasionally creates quite delicious end results, which of course are hardly reproducible.

I have no idea why I bought the whole bottle back then, but now it sits there and serves as my scent medicine. How fitting, isn't it?

Really vibrates between spongy white grapefruit rind and clean cedar shavings for me. I guess I sort into the Vetiveryl Acetate Enjoyer side

This is the polyurethane foam of the perfume industry. If your perfume needs acidity add M03. On its own it’s nothing.

smells very synthetic but also barely there . Gave me the impression of stagnant water dried on skin.

Vetiveryl acetate. What does 1 ml actually cost? 5 cents? It smells green-woody and synthetic. Not bad. But I would never buy it.

Smells to me like setting up an old, damp & slightly musty army tent on a wet autumn day. Sorry, not nice!

I can't understand the 5.9 rating here. It smells like almost every vetiver scent in the drydown. Why is that good? Yes for layering, folks.

Warm, juicy, damp, dark green late summer meadow. Happy the cows grazing there! And back there: a huge pile of old tires!

I'm surprised: I like a Molecule scent! A vetiver without frills, reminds me of Sycomore. It still makes me sneeze though :)
