Mandarin peels mixed with synthetic

Stumbled upon the Escentric Molecules brand by pure luck when I was browsing what Etiket has to offer in terms of fragrances. I'm not a fan of synthetic notes, but when I saw they had a perfume with mandarin, one of the notes I've come to love and adore, I decided I had to try it nonetheless and see if the synthetic notes would stop me from liking it.

Molecule 01 + Mandarin starts of with a very fresh, citrusy mandarin peel scent that is very refreshing and oh so beautiful. If I could, I'd probably bathe in it. It's a perfect scent for warm weather and a nice start to the day. The scent is positive, uplifting and never gets heavy or cloying. After a while, I did start to smell a slightly sharp sting which is probably the Iso-E-Super. On my skin, the scent never gets woody: it stays citrusy, fresh and fruity. It's overall a very linear and inoffensive scent, great for many occasions.

The problem with this fragrance is that it becomes a skin scent real fast after applying it. For the price, I find this quite sad and, although I know citrus notes are volatile, the price is a bit much. Nonetheless, I think this fragrance could layer very well with other citrus / fresh types of perfumes to enhance the mandarin note and fresh accord. I'm still on the fence whether to get it or not since I have better performing citrus scents in my collection. I recommend sampling it beforehand to see if you find it'll fit your collection!

Refreshing citrus

This is a great, fresh scent for the warmer days.

At first spray, it's bright, juicy and refreshing orange citrus with a hint of woods in the background. It smells as if you're in a woodshop and just bit into a clementine, letting the juice dribble down your chin and get soaked up by the sawdust on the floor.

Very straightforward, as there's not much of a journey at all with this scent—it's orangey and woodsy for the entirety of the wear. This lasted on me for about seven to eight hours.

Overall, another great formulation by Escentric. What it lacks in complexity, it makes up for with its olfactory experience.

Here then gone

This is a STUNNING citrus, it smells just like biting into a juicy slice of clementine with a woody and musky background. Unfortunately and unsurprising, it fades quickly. I have a decant and look forward to mixing and matching this with other stuff in my collection, but likely will not order a larger size

Gorgeous pop of zest

I absolutely love this - it feels like happy zesty sunshine in a bottle. Opens with the most photorealistic, zingy and juicy mandarine you can imagine. As if you have just peeled a tangerine/mandarine and the juice is hanging in the air around you.

I know this is a molecular scent that usually can just be smelled by others in your vicinity, but that bright zesty smell lingers very pleasantly. All through the day it surprises me with another whiff that makes me smile. Tested this, but full bottle worthy if you ask me :)

eagerly awaited and finally tested. I must say upfront that I really like molecule 01. Accordingly, the expectations were high for the new three molecule 01+ fragrances. I was particularly interested in whether they could improve the original scent with the addition or not.

regarding +mandarin: the mandarin smells more like an unripe mandarin, especially the scent of the mandarin peel is what I perceive. It is significantly less sweet than I expected. There are relatively few parallels with the original molecule 01. The mandarin clearly dominates the experience. For me, pure molecule 01 is better - except maybe at extremely high temperatures, where this version could indeed have the edge

regarding +patchouli: significantly less earthy/dirty than I expected. The wood note is a bit stronger at the beginning but fades quite quickly. Afterwards, a hint of nothing.

regarding +iris: personally, I find the iris note very strong. It still makes a harmonious impression. It starts off very feminine for me, but over time it becomes wearable for men as well. Of the three, it is the most similar to the original scent.

overall impression: for me, none of the three new ones can keep up with the original. The +mandarin might be something for summer, but it has relatively little to do with the original scent. The +iris maybe for the iris fans... but as I said, none of the three comes close to the original for me...
