All beginnings are hard...
....and this one particularly.

“Lavambra“ starts with a sweetly dirty mustiness that smells like last year's candies forgotten outside in the garden.
After a few months of properly fermenting in any weather, one suddenly gets the ridiculous idea, “Oh, they’re still good!“, shoves a few pieces in the mouth, and then realizes that these things have also taken a few rounds in the sandbox.
I really feel disgusted by this smell, but I remain steadfast and do not wash it off.

After about an hour, the mustiness begins to fade, and now I can smell the amber (Ambra). It is the same as in my beloved "Ambra Iris," only this one is cold.
As if the lavender is cooling everything down.
Very strange, I find it somehow disharmonious - the two just can't stand each other and are trying to take the butter off each other's bread.

After another hour, they have come to an understanding, and now there is tender harmony.
Now I really find “Lavambra“ beautiful; this is how I would wear it - delicate, humanly floral-herbaceous, body-warm.

But I don’t know if I want to endure 2 hours of horribleness before something beautiful emerges.....

Herb-sweet Lavender
Lavambra. Somehow, I had already thought with the name that one would smell "something" with lavender and amber, and that's how it is described in the fragrance notes. But as often, there are surely other fragrance notes in it, so let's see how Lavambra smells here.

Hmm… somehow the name makes me think of Alhambra, that fortress city in Spain. I would have loved to see it in real life… *sigh*

Anyway, let's move on to the scent for now; I can cry or sigh later :D

The scent:
Yes, the scent smells of lavender and amber. That's about it.
No, okay, let's try to be a bit more detailed. The (or is it the??) lavender is quite herbaceous, smells pretty natural, almost as if you were smelling real lavender. You might like that, or not, if the very herbaceous note bothers you. I find it successful, even though I wouldn't necessarily wear it.
The amber, which is strong upon spraying, quickly becomes weak and only gradually comes back to prominence, giving off a dark-sweet scent note.
I can also perceive a slightly herb-bitter undertone, so that due to the light sweet notes, it might remind one a bit of cinnamon. Later, the sweet notes smell more like vanilla instead of amber. However, the lavender can be perceived at any time; it loses some of its herbaceous note later and, in my opinion, smells even better then, especially combined with the sweet notes.

The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is rather quiet and radiates slightly. Even though it might project reasonably well at first, later it can only be perceived from close up.
The longevity, on the other hand, is quite okay, lasting six to eight hours.

The bottle:
The light bottle still resembles a champagne bottle. I wish the bottles were a bit more original or at least had a different shade. Here, too, we have the same bottle, which looks quite okay but still represents nothing special.

Lavambra has become a nice lavender scent that can be used well as an all-rounder in any season. As often, the scent is rather simply constructed, but that shouldn't be a problem.

As already described here, the scent smells quite authentic, about as if you were smelling real lavender plants. You can also smell the herbaceous note when you get very close to the plants and sniff them. From this perspective, I find the scent quite well made. Combined with the sweet notes, it results in a very pleasant fragrance that can hold its own, but has a rather average sillage.

Whether one can use it for going out is something everyone has to decide for themselves; for me, it is more of a daytime scent.

Simply. Beautiful.
Lavambra is a real surprise for me. Especially in combination with amber, I couldn't initially imagine lavender working so well, but even the skeptics should give this fragrance a chance.

Right from the start, I am captivated by the most authentic lavender note I have ever smelled outside of a garden. It truly feels as if I am picking lavender from the terrace and rubbing it in my hands. After a short while, a rather atypical amber joins in, which does not come across as particularly dark but rather delicate-soft-creamy and almost ethereal. A few seconds later, I also perceive a distinct cinnamon note, and Lavambra becomes almost gourmand. Like a loosely whipped vanilla cream with lavender and cinnamon, which is a delicious combination (at least in this fragrance).

Lavambra feels modern and quite clear, yet still very authentic and natural. I was concerned that the combination with amber would make everything feel somewhat musty, but the amber here is wonderfully fitting, bright, and transparent. Lavambra has a cheerful, calming, yet buoyant aura that I find incredibly pleasant. An amber that also works in spring.

In the dry-down, Lavambra develops a rather powdery-sweet character, revealing some fougère facets that I appreciate less. It remains bearable for me, but one should enjoy this nuance a bit.

For me, this is the most beautiful fragrance from Essenzialmente Laura so far, and I highly recommend testing it.

Adagio Lavambra
In the fragrance pyramids of the Essenzialmente-Laura perfumes, only one or two notes are indicated. This is the program of this new brand: naturally, the scents contain more components, but only a few are highlighted. In "Lavambra," it is - hardly surprising - lavender and amber.

A perfume released in 2015 with lavender as the defining component can hardly spark much interest. However, "Lavambra" manages this with a particularly splendid quality of lavender: everything that lavender can show - citrusy, herbal, floral, resinous - can be smelled here. According to perfumer Laura Bosetti Tonatto, the main focus of her work is the choice of raw materials. Everyone claims that. However, the lavender in the Essenzialmente-Laura perfumes (also used in "Lavanda" and "La Lavanda di Leonardo") truly smells as if this statement holds true. I often find lavender in perfumes boring - too often encountered in overly conservative scents. But in "Lavambra," the aromatic shrub with the small violet flowers manages to inspire me anew - and all without dramatic contrasts like in "Brin de Réglisse," but simply from the quality of the raw material.
Alongside this lavender, amber joins gently and gradually: little by little, the herbal aspect of the lavender is muted. The cinnamon-like facet, which is often detectable in amber accords, becomes noticeable first. The brightness of the lavender remains, but the cold does not. "Lavambra" is a warm scent, and if I were to assign a color to it, it would be a warm, shimmering bronze tone - and not violet, although lavender remains recognizable throughout the entire scent progression.
In the phase where the amber emerges, I perceive a pleasantly synthetic note that reminds me faintly of oil paint and modeling clay. I recognize this from other perfumes. By now, I know that this is a combination of anisaldehyde and heliotropin. I first consciously smelled this in "L'Eau d'Hiver," J.-C. Ellena's homage to Jacques Guerlain's "Après L'Ondée," which in turn is based on François Coty's "L’Origan." In all three, this anisaldehyde-heliotropin combination is characteristic. It is quite possible that Laura Bosetti Tonatto, with her use here in "Lavambra," is referencing this discourse line. However, this bow to perfume history is by no means for its own sake. The anisic quality of the anisaldehyde prepares for the cinnamon-like aspect of the amber, while the powdery aspect of the heliotropin is a precursor to the amber texture. More importantly, it seems to me that through the synthetically appearing fragrance materials, a charming, perhaps even necessary contrast for the tension in the perfume is achieved against the two naturally scented main notes.
However, this tension is by no means dramatic. The very gradual shifting of the proportions from lavender to amber sets a slow rhythm. And so, "Lavambra" is, overall, a composed perfume.
And a calming one.

Delicious lavender dessert - lightly powdered, with a hint of lemon zest & Heliotrope, subtly ambered. Lavender here is soft, not scratchy, melts on the tongue!

Forgotten candies outside, popped one in my mouth after months - sweet, musty, dried out, half a sandbox in it.
