An unusual EL
White Linen, Knowing, Youth Dew, Beyond Paradise, Beautiful, Cinnabar, Sensuous Noir… I could go on naming Estée Lauder’s famous fragrances. Fragrances that are renowned for their remarkable and recognizable combinations. And then there is Very Estée.
I was quite surprised when I sprayed it the first time because all I got was an insisting freesia. When talking about EL this was new to me. This is not the most interesting EL fragrance there is. And I do get confused when reading that EL introduced thin as “the new sexy perfume”? I do not get it at all. This is, to my nose, as far from sexy as can be. When I spray it, I see a well dressed woman ready for work at the office.
So what makes it interesting? This fragrance lasts - on my skin - for up to 12 hours! The same dominant freesia all through the hours with Jasmine and rose as its companions. That is really something. I was surprised seeing that here on Parfumo the longevity is rated 6,8. Personally I would rate it 11. I feel so secure when I wear this. I know that the scent lasts all day.
It is a nice and quite light fragrance perfect for work or a cafe visit. Sillage is pleasant, not more than an arm’s length, so it is a perfume that is sprayed for the wearer, not the audience. It is perfect for warm spring days and early autumn.
The bottle is close to similar to Spellbound, though it is slimmer and the top is blue instead of black. I like the simplicity of both.
Recommendable? Definitely.

very attractive
Today, my girlfriend shooed me off the sofa, where I was lounging around - but she wanted to snag a Fahrenheit bargain at the flea market.

Well - maybe I would also "accidentally" find something nice.

The booth of my fragrance dealer was surrounded by a crowd, and I gave up my special right to spray.
I would let my intuition speak.
And it led me to a clear, almost puristically designed bottle from Estee Lauder.
The name is a guarantee of quality for me - and what could possibly go wrong if this fragrance is supposed to be "very" Estee.
And I am not disappointed!

"Very" lives up to its name, as it is very very attractive.
Very balanced, I am greeted by fruity and floral notes - with the bright freesia taking the lead.
With gentle elegance, the rose joins in, and the jasmine shines white and clear.
Cashmere feels soft, and the musk is shiny and smooth.

However, Very is not simply smooth and straightforward; it possesses individuality and its own feminine statement.
Sporty casual elegance comes to mind, intertwined with an optimistic attitude.
It definitely fits a sunny day - and gives a positive reflection.

In any case, it has put a smile on my formerly grumpy face - and my girlfriend is happy for me too - even though she didn't find Fahrenheit.

Fate was very kind to me today.

For MILFs
The first time I encountered the term 'MILF' was during the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign in connection with the Alaskan vice-presidential candidate and self-proclaimed hockey mom Sarah Palin, who objected to being called such but was nonetheless proud that she knew the term. In fact, the word has been around for longer - and for a few years now, it has also become relatively established in the local youth language. In the original English, it directly refers to a woman with a certain life experience who still knows how to please, regardless of that.

Very Estée - this name can only be translated into German quite clumsily. It refers to something that condenses the essence of Estée Lauder, the legendary founder of the eponymous empire, and is indeed 'very Estée.' Lauder, famous for her charm and business acumen, allowed herself to be addressed by her girlish nickname 'Esty' (she was originally an Esther, and she invented the 'Estée' herself) well into her old age and significantly changed the image of the attractive and self-confident mature woman (to whom she wanted to sell her cosmetic products) in the mid-20th century.

Very Estée is both - cultivatedly expressed, the fragrance for an attractive woman who has long outgrown her girlhood, yet not without a wink, charming, light-footed, and flirtatious. In youth slang, this is the fragrance for a MILF - life-experienced, sexy, and quite aware of her charms. At its core, Very Estée is a formally arranged rose scent that is ladylike but not conservative - surrounded by initial white flowers and fruits and a kind of honey-colored undertone beneath it - like warm skin in sunlight after a day at the beach. In summary: a brief spring overture, then rose, then jasmine, then musk.

Conclusion: the fragrance for a beautiful woman beyond thirty-five, perhaps forty. Unduly overlooked, but sometimes that is also a blessing. And if we set aside the ordinary in the term MILF, it is essentially nothing but a compliment. And the fact that I have deliberately withheld its literal meaning from those who may not know the term is pure intention - it is quite vulgar. And of course, there are DILFs as well.

Version of a Lady 2.0.
This lady here is cool. Distant. Charming. Always appropriately dressed, no matter the time of day or night. Nothing about her seems cheap, even if not everything has to have been expensive.

Her smile rarely goes unanswered. If she holds a secret, no one has unraveled it yet - or it was indeed a gentleman who enjoys it. And remains silent.

The lady remembers 2012, the cool, broad-shouldered 80s, when she struggled to smell soft and elite - the perfumes of that time were so loud (and mostly terribly emotional for her). Estée Super became her signature back then.

A few decades have passed, the lady has adapted to the new era. Her appearance has completely changed, yet little about her spectacular exit.

The entrance, with which she descends the stairs to applause onto her stage, is strewn with freesias. And indeed with buckets of freesias (pardon, for the neighbors: buckets). So many that the brightness of this floral abundance makes one squint. The pepper awakens the senses - if anyone had dozed off during her appearance, they are now surely wide awake.

Roses fly onto the stage, in all colors and variations. Now excitement sets in, but it is quickly calmed down with jasmine and nestled in woods.

And suddenly, almost seamlessly, Estée stands before me, similar to how I knew her in the 80s. A little less pronounced, but suitable for the office in 2012, still very cool, still self-assured, and with a ladylike smile.

Very Estée differs more than pleasantly from the current trend of "uniform-synthetic-will-please-everyone" eaux de toilettes. Just the freesia opening will surely polarize. It gently reminds one of times when fragrances radiated personality and were sold precisely for that reason.

The bottle reminded me at first glance (and touch) of that of "Spellbound." Timeless, almost puristic, probably intended as a bridge between the decades.

I see Very Estée as an opportunity to inspire younger ladies to embrace fragrances with personality. And those who in 2012 no longer dare to wear Estée Super to the office due to the zeitgeist can indulge in this new interpretation without guilt because of their colleagues.

Very floral and attractive. At the same time stylish and feminine. It scores with noble subtlety.

Fresh blossoms, slightly tart currants, and powdery woods with a lovely green hue. Summer garden after a rainstorm, pale blue morning.
