Euphorium Brooklyn / Usar

Ohhhh ... hard to classify the smell and smells differently on the skin on warm and cooler days. I would classify the fragrance as citrus-woody-spicy.
It starts with a refreshing and spicy lime along with spicy ginger. After a while, it moves towards the scent of spicy and earthy vetiver covered with cloves to finally settle on the skin, where it comes out mainly with the smell of fresh wood and sweeter, slightly smoky resins. It is really very good and interesting.
Durability very good, projection moderate.
I think it will smell best in spring, summer and fall. I recommend.

Cologne à l'indonésienne

"Usar" is what Vetiver is called on various Indonesian islands. So that we are all on the same page about what this is about: namely Vetiver!

The perfumer Stephen Dirkes lived in Indonesia for many years and was very passionate about creating an authentic Indonesian scent. The ingredients read like a "who is who" of endemic products, plants, and spices.

The lime (Jeruk Nipis) starts off very fresh in combination with earthy ginger and fiery cloves. It comes across sharp, strong, and intense. Special, refreshing, and really interesting.

The benzoin (Hajimon) is creamy, with dark nuances, very resinous and never too sweet. The interplay with the Vetiver is truly cinematic. The Vetiver begins with its familiar herbal-smoky scent but then shifts into an ethereal, grassy direction. I catch hints of cut grass, lemongrass, and anise.

Lime and ginger continue to accompany this green-creamy-earthy spice wave. The Oud (Gaharu) used is bright and rather light, framing the scent with a subtle woody smokiness.

Stephen has used a blend of three different Indonesian Vetiver oils. This makes the scent truly very different from any Vetiver I have smelled before. Usar is very refined and woven with a lot of craftsmanship and passion - never overwhelming at any point. I see this scent more for spring and summer; this top note will be an absolute delight in the heat. Longevity is between 5-6 hours.

All in all, a great exotic take on Vetiver, brewed with beautiful raw materials from distant islands. For me, it is one of the most beautiful Vetiver scents I have tested so far.

Nothing special. It still keeps going with the ambergris. Kudos to not making it the protagonist of the scent for once. Its just... okay.
