A Special Candidate
Flocked & Gilded is admittedly quite special and knows how to stand out. In my experience, it hasn't really been well received by others in the vicinity. Comments like: "Disgusting," "Ew," or even "Terrible" have been made.
I don't find it as bad as the people outside our bubble do.
Nevertheless, I'm not a fan.
I find the scent opens quite spicy. I thought I could also sniff some herbs, especially at the beginning.
However, herbs are not listed at all. My nose must have played a trick on me here. Furthermore, Flocked & Gilded has a somewhat green-woody quality for me. I had similar associations with the scent "Wald" from the same fragrance house. Not to forget is the directly resinous component.
Over time, it becomes increasingly resinous for me, as well as sweet and fruity. I can now really perceive the blood orange from the top note, as well as what feels like other overripe fruits.
The honey adds a certain kind of sweetness to this scent. A bit of tobacco is also present, along with a slightly creamy impression that sets in later.
Towards the end, the scent develops a different kind of resinous sweetness for me. It's still slightly fruity, but really feels like it's from overripe, almost fermented fruits.
Unfortunately, I don't like this special sweetness, this resinous quality at the end at all. It reminded me slightly (not identical!!) of Lattafa Raghba, which I also had my issues with.
Overall, I find the scent okay. Unfortunately, it feels a bit uneven to me in general.
I will not be a fan of the
Flocked & Gilded.
Nevertheless, there will surely be some who will find it really good.
