Dark chocolate-covered blueberries

I probably wouldn’t have tried this scent if I hadn’t received it as a free sample. I assumed it would be powdery, but on me it isn’t. Dark chocolate is the dominant note here, and the blueberry is well-represented too. I’m reminded of the dark chocolate-covered blueberries my wife and I used to buy. Semi-sweet and not what I would describe as gourmand, despite the food notes. In the dry down, I get more cedar, something cool and refreshing that I believe is the “cool night air” accord, and something faintly relaxing, maybe the lavender. Very unique! This isn’t my type of fragrance but it’s undoubtedly well-made. Chocolate lovers should try this.

cozy and blue

A lullaby of soft purple flowers, blueberry, and fresh cedar with a gentle bite of bitter chocolate.

An offering made at the foot of a cedar tree at twilight, its long blue shadow reaching forth and invoking a silent watchful presence. Stolas, the god of stars. Decadent, comforting, and strange.

Made for nocturnal witches who live in treehouses and whisper love poems to the moon.

a dusty chocolate and a powdery lavender dream

Stolas from Fantome is the strangest, most marvelous combination of chocolate and lavender, and this is one of the times I did not reacquaint myself with the notes before testing the scent and coming to that conclusion. So when I double-checked and saw I was right and I did actually smell what I smelled–hot dog, that’s validating. Even after all of this time, I feel like I am just constantly wildly speculating. Anyway, this is a musty, dusty chocolate and a powdery lavender, cool aromatic cedar, and something strangely, sweetly waxen. It summons for me something so uncannily vivid and eerily evocative, though not the owl-headed 36th Prince of Hell that inspired the scent. No, this is a dim attic room closed to sunlight for the last century, tangled in pale, filmy cobwebs and frail, milky lace, and crowded with countless wooden shelves upon which are perched dozens of creamy-cheeked, unblinking porcelain dolls.
