Have you ever hugged a tree?
No? I probably have, but more on that in a moment.
First, I want to thank our Don, who recently gave away a set of 3 travel sprays from Frau Tonis Parfum in the forum. I signed up, got the "bid," and can now bother you with comments on the scents and then claim that I had no other choice. That’s what Don wished for. Well, Don, your fault... ;)
Now, back to hugging a tree. It’s become a trend, as I’ve read elsewhere. I haven’t seen anyone do it, but others have seen me. The day before yesterday. Unintentionally. A 30kg dog on my right, another 25kg dog on my left, and that adds up to more than my own body weight, which is why I had absolutely no chance when the daring squirrel first leaped from the tree, landed about 5m in front of us, and then dashed back up the tree. With a look that said "you can’t catch me," it paused briefly on the front side of the tree before disappearing around the back. One dog went past the tree on the right, the other on the left, only to reunite behind the tree side by side. And there I was, hanging in front of the tree. Shocked. A bit in pain. A little embarrassed, hoping no one saw it. Then, taking a deep breath and smelling, this scent came to mind.
Valeria is a beautiful green, earthy, and woody scent that initially comes across as almost ethereal. It has an intense aroma of moss and the scent of fresh green leaves being crushed between fingers. I think I smell a hint of something herbal, but also a slightly sweet note-like, even though it’s not listed in the notes, woodruff. There’s also a note that reminds me of freshly turned earth. The intensity fades within the first hour. The overall green impression definitely remains, but the scent becomes softer and rounder. The notes seem to merge beautifully together. I must admit I don’t smell lemon at all; however, the woodiness takes on a slightly fruity undertone after about an hour. Mandarin, the sweet ones, fit in quite well there.
The scent lasts about 5 hours. The first hour it is quite strong and noticeable to others, then it slowly retreats more and more, so you have to get closer to catch a whiff of it.
I only know the regular bottles from Frau Toni from pictures. The travel sprays are 7.5ml glass bottles that even have a small aluminum cap. They are beautifully arranged side by side in a white foldable cardboard box, and inside there’s a small instruction manual on where men and women can best spray the perfume. Overall, a very charming presentation (photo in my album).
Valeria is definitely unisex for me, with a slight tendency towards the masculine, perhaps because moss is often found in "pure" men’s fragrances, which is why I tend to categorize it that way.
I am fascinated by this scent because it instantly transports me olfactorily to a forest (not just in front of a tree) where nature has awakened from its winter slumber. There is renewal and new beginnings; everything is alive, powerful, and peaceful at the same time. It takes me to the place I love to retreat to when everything needs to be reset, when my nerves are frayed, and I feel a bit lost.
If you’re looking for something for home, you should definitely check out Valeria.
