You need the proper nose to enjoy this
The GiEffEffe scent is so very freakish that it is obvious why many people would find it weird or simply unwearable. You need the right nose to appreciate this. Truth be told, it owns an intricate, warm melange of flowery, spicy, woodsy and citrus that melds into a subtle yet gorgeous scent. I have never smelled anything like this so far, not even close and it truly deserves a chance. At a time when so many fragrances repeat the same ambroxan formula over and over again, it is reassuring to know that Gieffeffe is still there. I notice that the utmost men are phobic or worried about smelling like a woman. You know what? Men naturally produce musk, so a fragrance labeled or viewed as the feminine is going to turn slightly masculine any way on you. Further, light scents or florals tend to be very fresh and not overwhelming on us.

This fragrance is gender neutral and mixes opposite notes such as the more tender floral osmanthus and rose blossom against the more vigorous cardamom and nutmeg spices. It will not be cloying because it is not obtrusive in nature. It is light and settles very fresh on clothes to a soapy or fabric jasmine vibe.

Back to the fragrance, both osmanthus and bergamot create such a creamy blend, whose sweetness is balanced by the zesty lemon and the juicy orange peels. This ain't the classical cologne opening, where plenty of fresh citrus fruits are right in your face. It is more floral, creamy as a sort of English lemon curd velvety custard.

The heart is all about glowing jasmine and sheer rose, that wondrous floral aspect is blended with the spicier side of cardamom and nutmeg. The spices are not too hot, at least they do not overwhelm the gentleness of the blossom.

The sent is too flowery and very subtle at the dry-down too, which is very good. This scent gives you a chance to enjoy osmanthus flowers in the opening and friendly sandalwood at the base. It settles down very well to a Dove original soap vibe, which is beautiful on a man like me. Again, creamy sandalwood dominates the base with just the right tad of white musk, and ain't dirty patchouli to my nose.

I guess I have to write a review from a man viewpoint. I am wearing this fragrance today. It has been a while since I bought it a few weeks ago. Such a good white floral sandalwood fragrance. Very unisex for the men that are not bothered by floral notes. It does open up with a women type perfume vibe for the first 5 mins but turns CK One-ish in the genre. It's no more feminine than that, so fellas chill out and give it a try if you do like florals such as 4711 for instance. It does not smell the same, obviously, but once again no more feminine than that. On my man's skin, the sillage is arm's length for 2 hrs and longevity is nearly half a day, a bit more on fabric. It is a perfect companion for warm spring days and a compliment getter, seriously.

Cheap and nasty
Cheap smelling bubble bath that turns into a cheap smelling floral.
GFF then loses a star for the nasty metallic note.

The Great Silence
It is Sunday evening. Of the 8 ml of Gieffeffe, only 3 are left.
I've been wearing it since Friday evening. Just it.
I took it for a walk in the fresh air and went grocery shopping.
I had a beef fillet at a restaurant with it.
I cooked, baked, made love, brunch with friends, and lounged on the sofa with it.
I applied it homeopathically and infused myself with it. I soaked my skin and my clothes with it.
I allowed us a break from each other.
I let it into my life.
I waited patiently and listened attentively.
It could have said: "Oh, how nice and clear it is in the cool winter air."
Or "How you manage to do that while cooking and tidying up, you are such an organized little gem!"
Or "Wild one, you rascal, wild!"
Or "Ah, it’s really cozy on the sofa, pull the blanket up a bit..."
But it said nothing to me. Simply NOTHING.
A bit of citrusy bergamot, a bit of Nivea-osmanthus, then it bows and leaves me alone in my life again.
Gieffeffe didn’t disturb me. But it ANNOYED me! You can take it anywhere, but it doesn’t contribute, it just won’t open its mouth.
I have 9 more scents from the Hasi sample package to comment on. I drew Gieffeffe blindly and gave it a real chance to tell me its story. But those who don’t speak are indeed hard to understand.
It is Sunday evening. I take out my hair tie before going to bed. My hair falls into my face and there is the smell of the conditioner I used this morning. It says: "Well, Madame, you’ve experienced a lot today - but, just between us: Your hair has always smelled fantastic fresh and well-groomed during all that!" I take one last challenging sniff over at Gieffeffe: It shrugs and stays out of it.

unintentionally
Today I searched through my supplies for Betty's Style - and unintentionally found Gieffeffe.
The Ferre fragrances are dear to my heart anyway, so I paused my search and treated myself to a spray.

Wow, I remembered it quite differently - not so complex.
I had often gifted it to fragrance newcomers because I considered it fresh-friendly and uncomplicated.
I see it differently now.
While it is indeed not a complicated, overly demanding scent - it is definitely multidimensional and by no means simple.
My nose simply wasn't as trained years ago as it is today.

Bergamot, lemon, and orange provide a fresh-fruity opening - but then noble osmanthus steps in, presenting elegance.
Jasmine, spiced with cardamom and nutmeg, is very appealing, and the velvety rose aroma is very attractive.
Then I perceive mild honey and spicy patchouli, wrapped in soft sandalwood.

A multifaceted, attractive scent that I couldn't appreciate years ago.

Nevertheless, I already found it appealing back then, and I still enjoy its unpretentious, sympathetic understatement today.

Everything that pleases upon a second glance does so more thoroughly.

Just like "Maria Stuart," which I found yawningly boring as a child, but as an adult, I couldn't tear myself away from reading the play.

Everything takes its time...

Song of Springtime Freshness
If you cream my back,
I'll cream your belly.
If you cream my feet,
I'll cream them for you too.

If you cream my arms,
I'll cream your butt.
I love to cream you,
and you me anyway.

And then we smell so fresh and clean,
like the young morning.
As if we had never smelled otherwise,
so flowery and pure.
Like innocent children in Lenor sheets,
April-fresh, well-groomed,
and a little bit boring.

Son of the minimal 90es, it's a clean fresh-aromatic scent to share. Perfect as daily scent mainly in the good season. A great all-rounder

Refreshing + cool, citrus dances through a harmonious floral garden. Warmed by woods + spices with a nostalgic flair. Elegant 90s.

Transparent, citrusy, and elegantly styled, I head to the park,
flowers bloom everywhere,
in the underbrush, it becomes creamy-spicy.

A fresh-creamy hug with a delicate powder kiss on top!
A clean-and-neat scent that was way too far back on the fragrance shelf...

It must have been a nice scent once. I ordered it blindly and it just smelled old. Something to consider with discontinued fragrances if it's worth it.
