Gorgeous floral
I honestly can't tell if I'm truly in love or if this is another example of successful marketing. If someone had told me this perfume was made from magnolia blossoms, I might have written it off as just another "generic powdery floral."

But this is "Southern Bloom" which is made from a rare flower that only blooms for a very short time on one tiny island on the other side of the world. I will probably never see this flower in my life. I've also come to understand that this rare flower's oil is the most expensive in the world.

Maybe it's that story that makes this perfume seem so opulent and luxurious. Or maybe it really is just a well balanced, beautiful floral smell. Either way, it makes me feel feminine, sophisticated and pampered when I wear it. It makes me feel like royalty and I find myself carrying myself as such when I wear it. Perhaps that feeling alone makes it worthy of a full bottle buy.

My only complaint is that my nose goes blind to the smell very quickly. I think others around me can still smell it, I just wish I could continue enjoying the first spray a little bit longer myself.

Lilac, but make it tropical and sultry
I'm not familiar with the boronia flower, so I can't judge if this is realistic interpretation of it. I can say that it's a heady, sultry, unique floral though.

In the opening it feels like a mix of exotic flowers in the mid-day sun, dusty pollen floating in the air. The coconut in this is dry and almost grainy and bready, this is not your typical creamy and tropical coconut. A bit like unsweetened coconut flakes.
For some reason I also smell something similar to lilacs in this. Does boronia smell like lilacs?
After the scent has calmed down, it turns more powdery, and all the fruity and floral notes come out. Ylang-ylang, cassis and iris are all very noticeable in the heart and the drydown, and a bit of sandalwood, too. At this point the scent is so sweet and powdery that it reminds me of candy necklaces, but on a musky, chic and polished base. Am I the only one who gets the tiniest hint of NR For Her musk from this?

I think this needs some time to settle and come together as one. The heady florals and dry coconut in the opening feel separated to my nose. But when everything blends together in the drydown, this becomes a beautiful floral musk fragrance.
In my opinion it doesn't really smell like Velvet Orchid (like some people around the web say). That one is much warmer, but I can see where people are coming from, especially in the later phases of both scents.

Balanced, semi-powdery floral, nicely put together
Southern Bloom is a 2018 release from Goldfield & Banks that I do not believe I’d actually tried on skin before now, a fitting floral-rich blend with opulent jasmine sambac, punctuated with ylang ylang, iris, coconut, sandalwood, and just a touch of vetiver to prevent it from leaning too sweet. It smells classy, dense, semi-fresh, and not overtly feminine despite being floral-centric, very nicely done. A bit sharp, a bit powdery, but not prohibitively so for me, pretty well balanced overall. I’m not sure I’d opt to wear it much myself but it’s still a quite nice floral offering and really adds to the diversity of the main line.

Like the rest of the main line, Southern Bloom is priced at $190 for 100ml, sold through US boutiques like Perfumology, and it performs quite well.

Superb flowery fragrance
Southern Bloom is for me, overall, and as i have writen un the title, a superb flowery fragrance. The scent here is very natural and really...just great. The flowers shine un this perfume. What se find here the most is Boronia. I havent seen before this flower and i dont know how It smells but i think It must be something similar to an orchid since i get something like this un the mix. Them a very rich iris, more in the líne of Dior homme than un the líne of iris des champs, a very powdery iris with the make Up vibe and not a fresh and vright iris. At the same time the Jasmine gives some dirty character to the perfume what is really cool. What is weird is that I feel something like honey here but probably would be the ylang ylang with the coconut and the blackberries.
The opening is amazing, very dense and intense and attending to that It could be for sure one of my favourite perfumes. But thwn, after half an hours more or less, It becomes much more subtle and soft and adquiring a very short distances projection. The longevity is good but not also a beast. Therefore I find It a perfume more for warm days and probably better for daytime. I think It is totally unisex but men Who are afraid of flowers...please avoid It! :)

Interesting floral, heavy on the iris
I'm not an iris fan and this wasn't the frag to sell me on it, but it's definitely distinct from other irises I've tried and keeps a certain sweet, floral quality well into the dry down.

This opens with a pure floral that I sadly can't speak to the boronia elements of - I'd love to hear from anyone familiar with Tassie boronia on how it holds up and its interactions with the other florals present. I am as always thrilled to see a house working with native botanicals and experimenting with local notes that might not have the international audiences of roses, jasmines, etc.

The coconut and top florals leave quickly and by hour 2 or 3 it's mostly iris, wood, and vetiver left. This would be a fantastic pull for any iris lovers looking for a sweet treatment or a floral lover looking to experiment more with woody frags. I hope to see more longform reviews here from the real target audience of this fragrance.

Great flowery fragrance where the Boronia is the Queen. Her court is formed by iris, Jasmine and ylang with the sweet touch of coconut

Clean, soapy floral. Not sure what boronia smells like but I definitely get the iris. Unisex leaning feminine.

Balanced and less powdery than Velvet Splendor and White Sandalwood. Fairly generic and soapy.

A pollinic bloom of flowers mixed with a fruity burst of blackcurrant berries. Very dry, slightly creamy, with a light woody backbone.

Smells like a brutal synthetic club, but it might just be the pairing of coconut and exotic flowers (Boronia: never heard of it before).

Starts citrusy-floral-currant. Also aquatic, but not like a shower gel. Later, the flowers become distinctly more tropical, heavier, sweeter.
