A forgettable powdery floral that doesn't have much else going on. Smells like a generic hand lotion

Shimmering mimosa-sandalwood. Dimitri has nailed this one. Not one to overspray on a hot day. Glorious stuff!

Powdery Fresh Linen
To me, this fragrance is a soft, fresh, clean smell. Very feminine, but also very unremarkable.

The opening note is powdery floral. I especially detect the lavender, jasmine and orange blossoms. The hint of citrus gives it a fresh feel but isn't overpowering. It settles into a nice, clean, unobtrusive smell. This could easily be a signature scent that you can wear to the office all year long and no one would ever complain or think twice about it. In fact, it smells so much like a dryer sheet or laundry detergent, everyone will just think you are a very clean person!

On the other hand, that means this fragrance my feel blasé to some. You likely won't get many compliments, since people may just assume the smell is coming from your clothing or, as someone else mentioned, hand lotion.

Robust, hearty floral gem, classic meets modern
Goldfield & Banks Velvet Splendou is a floral/fresh/spicy/resinous blend that’s as velvety smooth as its name suggests. It has an opulent, powdery quality that smells like grand perfumes of old, with plenty of florals, citruses, and resins. The standout notes to me are heliotrope, oppoponax, tonka, mandarin, patchouli, leather, and vetiver. It leans traditionally feminine, at least on my skin, and performs outstandingly—I’d certainly like to try it some more and would encourage others to, also, perhaps as part of a discovery set, which I’ve found to be a lot of fun to go through, scent by scent. Overall, Velvet Splendour is rich and has a classy timelessness to it, and fits in nicely within the collection as something new.

It’s priced at $190 for 100ml like most of the current main collection and is sold via retailers like Perfumology.

Velvet Splendour
Apparently this fragrance would like to recreate the smell of immersing your face in a bouquet of flowers with the sun warming the air... I'll start by saying that I don't perceive this sensation.
I find the opening very harsh (perhaps the mandarin is already involved), which gradually softens, giving way to the white flowers, which however I don't find as engaging as if I felt them live.
A pleasant, flowery fragrance, but nothing more.

The velvety splendor ... or forearm happiness
I actually wanted the Pacific Rock Moss - but unfortunately it was reserved in the main perfumery and so I was standing around a bit crunchy. My saleswoman then said that Splendour was a better fit anyway. I knew it, found it rather ok, but well, let's smell it.

But I got something completely different: an insane mimosa bathed in sandalwood with slightly woody-soapy notes woven into a wonderfully velvety fragrance. It's tangy at first, but becomes very soft in the dry down. When I read the comments here, the term "Chanellig" came up and yes, it's very fitting. It is incredibly soft, classic and yet there is no scratchy patchouli, you can hardly smell any individual notes and my final opponent, jasmine, behaves very much in line with my nose. Together with the resins, it creates an incredibly deep fragrance that doesn't bother anyone with its silage. It is discreet, but here it has a great presence.

I've been wearing it on my forearm for several hours now and I'm hooked. It has the right amount of oomph and subtlety for me. I think I've fallen in love with it - even if it's not rated as highly here: give it a chance, it's beautifully soft, versatile and not a board. Especially when all those teenagers smelling like Erba-Pura and BR540 dupes get on your nerves, it's like nasal wellness. Really now.

Not my cup of tea
Unfortunately, Velvet Splendour won't work for me. Somehow I don't like the character of the fragrance, although I like most of the notes.

I don't like the mixture of mimosa, vetiver, sandalwood, vetiver, jasmine and mandarin and it seems a bit old to my nose. The fragrance suits women over 35 very well, as it has something very mature about it.

The longevity is quite good here and the sillage is also good mid-range.
