Easy Breezy Neroli Squeezy
WHAT IT IS
Clean, crystalline, transparent, green jasmine & neroli - and little else. Jake's House opens with a quick burst of aquatic notes (think a splash of river water vs the ocean) and then quickly settles into a lightweight, sharp-edged neroli note that is SUPERB for hot weather. No honey, no creaminess, no other notes that usually accompany white florals and the musk is minimal. Longevity isn't great and neither is sillage (this is more of a cologne/EDT), but I haven't found a neroli I like better!
WHO IT'S FOR
Men & women who like white florals without excess. You are a minimalist and believe that nothing - not even fragrance - can compensate for good grooming. You live in a humid climate and want a "cutting" fragrance for summer that won't gas anyone out. And since you're shopping Henry Rose, you care about clean ingredients.
ALTERNATIVES
Among nerolis, 4711 comes close, though the florals are sweeter and the performance is much worse, and Dunhill Icon is creamier/nuttier (and less enjoyable to my nose). Among aquatics, Bentley Momentum is closest in terms of sweet watery notes that avoid oceanic salt/musk.
FINAL THOUGHTS
For me, Jake's House is a "white t-shirt fragrance" - something I wear casually on warm days when I'm not looking for attention and just feel good with myself. Nevertheless, it garnered instant head turns and seems to charm even people who don't like fragrances. An imperfect must-have.
