Under False Pretenses
Has this ever happened to you? You suddenly discover new fragrances, fall in love with one of them, find the others great too, but which one was that dream scent? I mistakenly fixated on this one, and as unfair as it is, the follow-up test was a bit of a disappointment. I later managed to track down my dream scent. Nevertheless, this one underwent a thorough scent exploration beforehand, and it reads like this:
"The high perfume concentration of 30% ensures very long-lasting wear. You can't wash it off, the expert told me." Yes, I can confirm that. The sillage is also incredibly pronounced. With a fragrance you really love, that's desirable. I think it is with this one too. And now the olfactory journey of my testing hours:
10:10 AM The opening is very jasmine-like, dark, soft, velvety. Yes, I like it.
10:30 AM I'm wondering if the high quality might delay the pyramid development, meaning the stages might not come in minute intervals but develop over hours? (I was still waiting for that "aha" moment of recognition.)
10:40 AM The scent is slowly gaining a hint of woodiness and becoming a bit fruity.
11:35 AM Even more light sweetness and fruitiness is coming through. The opening note is still clearly in the foreground. Jasmine-like, dark, soft. Not brightly sweet.
1:00 PM The scent is very nice, but it doesn't unfold as captivatingly as I experienced it on paper (I initially thought this due to the mistake, but this progression already reflects the paper testing).
Therefore, I find that it isn't worth the high price for me. I was somewhat relieved, not yet knowing that my new love is also quite pricey...
I will test the scent again under fairer circumstances. Maybe there will be an "edit" then. When I look at the fragrance pyramid, the scent progression hasn't necessarily followed that. Conclusion: beautiful scent - yes! But I still don't quite understand it.
Edit: Where can I actually find the trumpet flower? In the jasmine trumpet?
