White Rose
My predecessor (Naaase) has actually said everything and described White Saffron (WS) very aptly and in detail. So I am writing this comment mainly for myself and on the other hand to independently confirm the good assessment of the fragrance from another perspective. :-)

At the Kurfürsten Parfümerie Mannheim (which I can warmly recommend, by the way), I was introduced to WS and "Black Oud" from the same brand. I was surprised to find that WS had a significantly more pompous start. In comparison, Black Oud seemed almost tame. WS kicks off with a powerful burst of saffron; with a noise that makes you crave more. In the background, the actual players are already positioning themselves: rose and white flowers.

In the heart, that very rose dominates, accompanied by the white flowers that inspired the name. The saffron is a constant companion, but after its opening gala, it takes a step back. Together with a rather subdued amber, the two keep WS from being overly exaggerated in floral lightness. The rose also evokes in me the association of a slightly soapy undertone. However, this could ultimately just be due to the combination of rose and flowers.

In the drydown, WS is additionally and subtly supported by warming woods. I found the longevity to be good, without wanting to commit to an exact number of hours.

I have experienced White Saffron as a bright rose fragrance (in contrast to Amouage's "Lyric," which I remember as rather dark and heavy), very pleasant, by no means too cerebral or even artificial. The composition strikes me as elegant and gentleman-like, perhaps even a bit too well-mannered - at least I, as a fan of dark spicy incense calibers, have gained a bit of this impression from it.

Perhaps an ideal candidate for special days and events when one wants to stand out from youthful storm and stress and convey a somewhat more mature and positive impression - without wanting to judge any of these statements. Perhaps also simply an ideal companion for today - Valentine's Day.

PS: I rate the fragrance at only 70%, as I will hardly wear it myself, since it is simply too little dark and edgy for me. After the great spectacle of the top note, I expected a different progression. In this respect, it is a solid 70%, which objectively would probably be worth at least 80%.

How to Make Your Bed...
How to Make Your Bed...

According to a legend from Greek mythology, Zeus slept on a bed made of saffron. The Phoenicians already used saffron as a medicinal and spice ingredient, likely having learned about it from the Indians. Even in ancient times, saffron was a luxury item. Consequently, there were severe penalties for adulterating or cutting saffron. Wealthy Romans sprinkled threads of saffron on their wedding beds. This custom may explain the Latin saying "dormivit in sacco croci" (He slept in a bed of saffron), which referred to a state of carefree joy. It is well established that in many cultures, it was customary to dye the wedding veil yellow with saffron. But what is it that makes saffron so special? Saffron is a species of crocus that blooms violet in the autumn. The spice, also called saffron, is derived from the stigmas of its flowers. This plant species is infertile and can only be propagated vegetatively through corm division. Saffron is cultivated in Afghanistan, Iran, Kashmir, and Europe, particularly in the Mediterranean region. Approximately 200 tons of saffron are produced each year. When looking at production quantities, Iran ranks first with about 170 to 180 tons annually, accounting for up to 91% of the market share.
Each flower contains a style that branches into three stigmas. Only these sweetly aromatic stigmas are dried and used as a spice. To obtain one kilogram of them, about 150,000 to 200,000 flowers are needed from a cultivation area of about 1,000 square meters; the harvest is purely manual labor, with a picker managing 60 to 80 grams per day. Additionally, saffron only blooms once a year in the autumn (and only for about two weeks). Therefore, saffron is one of the most expensive spices. In retail, one pays about 19 euros per gram.
A special position is held by "Spring Saffron" and its subgroup, "White Saffron": The "Spring Saffron" or "Spring Crocus" is a plant species from the family of iris plants. The plant has white to violet, bell-shaped, upright flowers with a long flower tube and underground ovaries. The leaves are narrow and linear with a white midrib. A subspecies of this is the "White Saffron," which typically has white, rarely more violet, flowers that are 17 to 27 millimeters long and three to eight millimeters wide, with a length of eight to twelve centimeters. The "White Saffron" is particularly widespread in Bavaria, especially in the Alps and the foothills of the Alps. Joseph Mayenberg mentioned a single location near Passau in 1875, where this species bloomed in abundance. The "White Saffron" still exists today as a relic of ancient garden culture in the Neuburger Wald near Passau and sporadically near Tann in the Isar-Inn hill country.

"White Saffron" by "Illuminum" starts off intensely. A very - let’s say - "impressive" top note: It faintly reminds one of "Aromatics Elixir" by Clinique. Here, it is just stronger and somehow creamier. I smell a rose. Not the delicate pink rose from "Lumière Noire" by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. No, this is a stately deep red specimen that is already distinctly noticeable in the top note. Proudly, it defines the beginning of the fragrance journey. However, it is underlined with a creamy note. Yet, there is also a slight sharpness.
Then it gets warm: Amber emerges distinctly. It warms its wearer. It caresses them. It forms a duet with our "creamy rose" to dance on the skin. However, they do not dance a cheerful polka, but rather a melancholic Argentine tango. And that on an elegant - dark brown - parquet floor. Because now woods come into play. Earthy woods now accompany our dance. They observe our dancers with their expressive movements. Rose and amber - united in dance. Caressed by spicy musk.
Heavy-hearted.
Artful.
Endless.
Precious - like white saffron.

Soft saffron, full rose and oud-like woodsy note- the combination is not original, the softness of saffron is, however, quite pleasant.

Saffron, which has a fine-spicy natural scent and smells classic in combination with rose. Turmeric adds a special kick.

In the esoteric shop.
Rose and jasmine bloom heavily.
Saffron not spicy at all,
but dusty.
Everyone smiles honey-sweet, dark, strained.

At first, I perceive strong woods, as well as a powerful ROSE. Jasmine & saffron complement it subtly. A lovely scent with good projection.

I mainly smell roses, a bunch of ripe, red roses, lightly spiced.
Not bad, but I'm missing some "saffron-ness" ;-P
