Leather with Sweat
Yes, this fine fragrance cannot deny its year of origin. In the intersection between earlier leather powerhouses and what would follow in the 80s, Monsieur Couturier adds a sweaty note that one may like, but does not have to.
I know the EdT and proudly own 240 ml of the After Shave, which I am commenting on here. However, the "sweaty" aspect here is not "piggish-fecal," but rather what one occasionally sniffs under their armpit when the deodorant fails or when one simply hasn't showered for a day.
Sounds disgusting? But it’s not. Tobacco? I’m fine with that. But I’ll eat a broom and my hat if there isn’t also a good amount of musk included here.
This mélange may delight vintage junkies like me. Yes, it’s not necessarily suitable for public, and even I tend to wear this fragrance more in private. A statement that hardly anyone understands nowadays, but still a prime example of what was once understood as "masculine." Just because of this consistency, I like it.
