Aftershave Journey Part 11 - Many thanks to Floyd for the Floid
Two months ago was my last aftershave journey (Klar Seifen - Aftershave Classic) … unbelievable how fitting it is to continue this “review journey series” with a sample from dear Floyd - thank you!
And with Floyd greetings, I can point to my aftershave journey with the probably lesser-known 2020 Floid, I will still attempt a small comparison here.
Upon application, there is a light massaging tingle and the skin becomes so beautifully soft & smooth. It should also be noted that this aftershave pairs excellently with the Tabac shaving soap.
While my 2020 Floid predominantly presents itself as sweet-powdery & floral with classic charm and a modern appearance (which I also appreciate very much), it has a slightly deeper and more complex scent development. It starts with a powdery menthol kick, finely balanced, but also perceptibly develops something softly fruity and woody in parallel.
The flowers glide in with spiciness and settle on an earthy base.
Much later, it becomes slightly sweeter, not overly sweet like 1 Million and other varieties, but rather subtly in the background like a spice in a dish - very discreet!
And I perceive natural leather aspects that combine with the sweetness.
Overall, I find the scent more intimate, sensitive, and slightly more complex than my 2020 Floid, which does not make it any less worthy - it remains a dignified Floid!
Has this masterpiece actually been discontinued? What a shame if so!
Thank you for reading - I hope the next aftershave journey doesn’t take as long (regardless of the winter break)
