utterly refined
Jil Sander Style is one of those lovely floral woody musks that you could imagine a sophisticated, refined middle-aged woman having as her signature. Rather than people saying to her, "What is that wonderful perfume?", they'd be more likely to say, "Oh, she always smells so elegant," as though it came from her pores rather than a bottle.

Overall, I find it very similar to my beloved Boucheron B. But where B's hint of fruit is from apricot, Style's is from mango. It has the mango in common with another lovely, subtle favorite of mine: Versace Essence Emotional. Style has a little edge of pepper that the others don't. On some days I might prefer that. But because I already have B and Essence Emotional, I don't feel compelled to buy a bottle of this as well.

Spectacular beauty
What is it with Jil Sander fragrances that absolutely floors me? I just took a shower, used Jil Sander Style shower gel, used the body lotion afterwards and perfected it with the juice, all while humming with sheer delight. I cannot believe that so far each and every Jil Sander scent I tried beamed me up to heaven. I am not much of a floral lover, but this composition is so wonderful, the floral aroma doesn't feel like an intruder, but the main accords are so well balanced that the floral part is actually a delight rather than an intrusion (and I can find a lot of floral scents too intrusive). This is a frag that picks me up when I am down, elevates me higher when I am happy, and is almost as potent in addressing depression and moodiness as L*ndt Chocolate Truffles. Best case scenario: Chocolate and Jil Sander frags, and the world looks brighter indeed. Style is just spectacular.

Proven business-appropriate bestseller
Actually, I'm not much of a fan of Jil's fragrances. In particular, the recent releases like Everrose, Evergreen, and whatever they are called have been rather disappointing to me. However, the Jils, Suns, and other sensations have not really convinced me either. With the exception of No. 4! That was and is a knockout scent - my signature for years and outstanding in the whole range, in my opinion. But here, it’s about Style, which has made its way into my collection through a swap.

Style starts off spicy with a distinct pepper note. Although there are quite a few flowers in this fragrance, it doesn’t bother me; on the contrary, they even flatter my nose. In the base, it becomes softly vanillic and powdery - for me, the most beautiful part of the scent. Before Style completely fades away, I still perceive a delicate musk note. I'm undecided about the sweetness. Sometimes it seems sweet to me, then again not at all (must be due to the hormones…). However, it is definitely not sticky-sweet like so many fragrances that are currently trendy. For me, Style is warm, cozy, feminine, and unobtrusive - not too grown-up, but also not playful, cute, or girly. The longevity is average; after four or five hours, a re-spray is in order. And then it can definitely be a spray more, as the sillage is not very far-reaching for my nose.

Style is a lovely scent that always works. You can't go wrong with it; it's suitable for the office and everyday wear. It’s not annoying and is pleasant. I just wore it to a business meeting and felt very comfortable with it. However, for the evening, I have other calibers; this one would be too shallow for me. I probably wouldn’t have bought Style, but I don’t regret the swap and will definitely use up the little bottle.

Play with Contrasts
I am a big fan of Thai cuisine. It works with contrasts and is therefore particularly appealing: sweet-spicy, sweet-sour, fruity-spicy, etc. These stimuli activate all the senses and refresh the mind.

I feel very similarly about Style by Jil Sander. At the beginning, Style is very spicy fruity and peppery fresh. The abundance of different notes almost reminds one of a visit to a spice market and feels very refreshing. There is pink pepper, floral and spicy, and the spicy cardamom that evokes thoughts of curry. The bitter peel of green mango and the floral sweetness of freesia. Very exciting and unusual yet very clear and fresh.
The scent impression transforms, the stroll through the market continues past the fruit and flower vendors straight to the incense stand where fine vanilla, amber, and musk as well as orris roots spread their delicate and seductive fragrance. Now the scent also changes: The floral peppery freshness becomes powdery warm and soft woody but not sweet. Great job!
The dark vanilla is kept in check by the spices and the mango and therefore does not take over. Overall, it lasts a good 8 hours on me and is thus absolutely suitable for the office. Reapplying is not necessary.

Jil Sander, similar to Guerlain, relies on powdery scents with a vanilla base. However, the fragrances are less playful and do not have the excellent quality of Guerlain scents. Instead, they are clearer and, fitting with the Sander house, more minimalist. Additionally, they are also more affordable, which should not be unimportant for many.

Style lives up to its name: A very special elegant companion even for official occasions. It is not just a superficial boring vanilla scent. No, it is exciting, interesting, and sophisticated, a light oriental with a bitter note. A test recommendation for all those who like vanilla but do not want to smell like sweet vanilla pudding.

It was supposed to be just a statement
Originally, I wanted to write just a statement about Style. However, things got quite out of hand. What is this? At the start, there’s something citrusy, so far, so good. But then I smell wormwood, and I mean the drink. Cinzano Extra Dry, even the alcohol note is (almost) included. It’s been a long time since I tried that stuff. A - well, perhaps not exactly a childhood memory - but a scent and taste from late adolescence, even if the established drink doesn’t quite fit. Were you picky as teenagers?

Strange. After all, this is an original tester that I received (thank you very much!) from Pluto. Within the first three hours, my impression gradually fades; the bitter drink becomes sweeter. I realize that this is a new twist on magnolia combined with the other flowers for me. Wow. It really can do something. I’ve already had canned artichoke. And now this. Not exactly a nose-pleaser either. I am very surprised that such a thing hides behind the name Jil Sander.

The progression is ultimately much more conventional, thus more predictable and suitable for a brief description: From late morning, I perceive an amber-amber-vanilla mixture, initially characterized by subtle violet with a bit of fruit and a tiny hint of spice, aerated by iris and jasmine. By the afternoon, the flower, fruit, and spice diminish, along with originality. Nevertheless, quite pleasant, indeed rather feminine. This certainly doesn’t make a woman stand out anywhere. Unfortunately, one might say. The scent lasts about six to seven hours and is overall of a reserved nature.

One of the few magnolia scents that AugustA likes. Mango is quite herbal and spicy, framed by vanilla dust. Not too sweet, good presence.

So sad ... That was my absolute favorite scent. Unfortunately, no one has come close to it yet - whether cheap or expensive.

Beautiful violet scent with powdery musk and warm, spicy sexy vanilla. Great fragrance! I love this "unsweetened" vanilla.

From woody, peppery, cool to floral, vanilla, and powdery-warm. It develops beautifully. Great office scent, especially for autumn and winter.

Cool powder. Smooth and rounded.
The fresh scent for those who actually don't like fresh fragrances.

Stylish, ego boost, today the world belongs to me - even though I'm actually quite well-behaved!
Spicy floral soft, the lack of mango doesn't matter.

Gentle, modest powdery scent that gains a touch of sweetness from mango marzipan and has a mature vibe from floral (somewhat older) floral water.

I just read that it's being discontinued *sniff*. One of my go-tos - warm, spicy, and vanilla. So beautifully feminine. Such a shame :0(
