LEAF - Your Breath After Chewing Gum
I sampled all of Jil Sander's Olfactory Series 1 collection the day after their release in-stores, and this was the first one. It was a delight. I immediately got a green tomato leaf note, which I'm glad someone else corroborated, since it's not listed here. It lends an natural herbaceousness and rescues the composition from becoming straight toothpaste.

The mint here is sweet. So while it's not full-blown toothpaste, it does remind me of Wrigley's Spearmint gum—soft, green, and chewy. I think a good comparison is the way someone's breath smells after chewing spearmint gum. The sparkling, menthol-quality of the mint is gone, but you're left with the sweet scent that's a little flatter and smoother.

I stand in the garden and my mind is out in the world. I am with myself and within myself like rarely before. Like in childhood.

‘Leaf’ is a strong, minty tomato leaf scent. A peculiar, green woodiness. Subtly smoky and faintly reminiscent of boxwood. Delicately rubbery-leathery and in this characteristic slightly piercing (similar to Norlimbanol, possibly caused by aldehydes). Additionally, it is interwoven with rough minty ether, somewhat sultry, subtly saffron-spiced, and in the drydown minimally powdery-ambery. Uncompromisingly green and unique like Naomi Goodsir’s ‘Nuit de Bakélite’, but much more subtle. Due to the bitter mint and clear nature orientation, it also evokes associations with Fiele Fragrances’ ‘Mentha’. Very distinctive and with a high recognition value. Unpretentious. Grounded. Wonderfully aromatic. For all who enjoy somewhat rugged, green natural scents - especially tomato leaf - and have no issue with a certain, noticeably artificial integration. Nature avant-garde. Uncharacteristic of Sander and therefore so exciting.

Sharp, green, and minty. Smoother in the drydown. Medium to low sillage and longevity. Suits warmer months.

The start is great. Gritty green, slightly sharp and fresh, then it quickly turns gum minty and loses more and more aroma and depth.

For me, the most beautiful in the line. Rustling green in the garden. Herbal mint, invigorating tomato green. The aldehydes sparkle fresh.

Urgreen-herb, misty-spicy tomato leaf with German mint. Pungent-leathery aldehyde undertone. Earthy-synthetic, green aroma.

Very fresh. Very green. Very elegant. Reminds me of the Hermès Jardins collection. Tomato leaf and mint are prominent, but overall quite fleeting, yet still lovely.

Unusual JS, which is more of a scent than a perfume: green, fresh, citrusy, grassy, leaf green, slightly bitter, aldehyde sparkly: innovative.

Dewy, cool greenery with juicy mint and fresh, vibrant herbs, seasoned with citrus.

The greenest (+most beautiful) of the line. Florist's cut green scent, delicate yet fresh, soft mint/cardamom as the main players, purely beautiful.

Fresh-cut, herbal mint and sharp lime initially give almost a cannabis impression...

The start: beautifully tomato-leaf minty with a splash of lime, which unfortunately disappears quite quickly. Then it leaves Voltaren ointment.
