Unimpressive
I tried a sample from Deutsch Vogue (September 2024) and wasn't really impressed. It's a very generic and somewhat chemically floral. It was decent enough on the blotter, but when applied to the skin something horrible happened- it became a chemical mess. Imagine smelling a synthetic rose without the ability to detect sweetness at all, it was bizarre to experience. It was fine on my boyfriend, so that bit might just be a personal skin chemistry issue. Boyfriend and I were shocked to see that peach was listed as a note here, because neither of us detected even the slightest hint of fruitiness.

Warm summer sunset cocktail
Sunset by Jil Sander is the latest flanker (2022) of the well known Sun line. This perfume is fruity and bright in the opening, playful, with a rose heart that turns slightly soapy clean and a delicate warm patchouli that is barely there, probably coming together some ambery touches. If you are interested into hearing more details about this perfume, please watch my review on Youtube.

The Five-Minute Peach with Patchouli Depth
Jil Sander - also known as the "Queen of Less" - stays true to her motto with this fragrance: clear, simple, straightforward.

In the first minutes after spraying, I am greeted by a light peach. This is very true to nature - so there's no need to fear an iced tea note. The rose makes its appearance right after and takes the peach off the stage. Now the patchouli can finally take center stage. It is heavy, lush, spicy, and has a slightly sour-bitter undertone. I do not encounter an earthy note.

The fragrance is close to the skin and subtle, very balanced, and despite its richness, not at all overpowering. You can wear it with a clear conscience even in warm temperatures, as it can be dosed well.

The longevity at early summer temperatures is about 6 hours for me (one spray on the forearm).

According to the manufacturer's advertising statements on social media, this is supposed to be a chypre. Strictly speaking, that is correct: the fragrance does contain peach in the top note and patchouli in the base note. However, there is no clear "edge" or "strictness" here. There is no moss included.

Anyone looking for a wearable alternative to the usual aquatic and citrus fragrances in summer will find this - especially for a stylish evening appearance - quite satisfying.

Character Peach with Depth
What a pleasant surprise Jil Sander has delivered with "Sunset".

Such an expressive, deep, summery peach scent is truly one of a kind.

And yes, I am writing this review as a man.
I don't see why one should refrain from sharing their opinion on a fragrance for the opposite sex.

I'll get straight to the point and start with the impression from the first spray.

A wonderfully sweet/ripened peach is indeed what unmistakably comes through in the nose.
It is beautifully balanced, feels quite natural, and immediately caresses the senses.

You instantly crave something with juicy peach.

Anyone afraid of rose scents should perk up their ears:

My wife absolutely dislikes rose fragrances. From her perspective (which I partially share), they often come across as rather old-fashioned. Elegant but somehow reminiscent of grandma, old soap, or other care products with rose scent.

Here, one can give the all-clear without worry.
Yes, there is an elegant hint of rose present, but it is introduced so subtly and gracefully that even young ladies should delight in "Sunset".

No trace of outdated, boring rose scent.
No, here the fragrance of this beautiful flower has been elevated to a new level. More of this, please.

In the drydown, not much happens in the fragrance progression, which I appreciate - because up close, this scent is a real cuddler. This is how you want to get closer to your beloved.
This subtly creamy, powdery quality smells simply wonderful and tempting.

Thus, I come to the longevity, which is a real surprise. However, this was already impressive with "Jil Sander Sun Coral Pop".

I'll say it delicately (hihi). When you get close at night, this summery elegant scent still radiates beautifully.
In numerical terms, it lasts about 6-8 hours. Then, while close to the skin, it is still distinctly noticeable.

There are also positives to report about the sillage. Anyone in a room with a woman wearing "Sunset" who doesn't notice this scent probably has no nose for (beautiful) fragrances. I mean, it projects well, and it's nearly impossible not to notice it.

All in all, Jil Sander's Sunset may not be THE ultra-great hit, but it certainly revitalizes the somewhat dated line and adds quite a bit to it.

Gone are the years of yawningly boring freshies; "Sunset" can do more than that.

It has character, it stands by it, and it confidently represents itself and its wearer.

That's worth this review to me.

Summer can come; "Sunset" is THE positive discovery of the year in the mid-range segment of women's summer fragrances.

Definitely give it a try, get out in the sun, and let it work its magic on you!

Have a fragrant day :)

Riding into the Sunset in Fresh Underwear
Hello folks, today I'm back with a women's fragrance. This time it's Sunset (EDP) by Jil Sander, a brand that should be familiar to almost everyone.

Sunset sounds quite nice; I mean, who doesn't find a sunset with a bright red sky beautiful? It somehow has a lovely, calming effect and looks absolutely stunning!
Especially in summer, one always hopes that the evening will bring a little cooling, but it's frustrating when it's still muggy and the heat lingers until the next morning. And it's even worse when the cats constantly want to go in and out and often can't decide whether they want to stay inside or outside. Of course, they also want the door to be open all the time, but in this heat, they can forget it! Because on muggy days, they don't get sticky like we humans do and stick to everything, like leather seats; instead, they lounge comfortably somewhere in the shade, but still complain all day long… just like your perfumes… no wonder women and cats are often compared, and even the girls often refer to themselves as cats, he he :D
Phew, I'm somehow not getting to the point and rambling endlessly about everything… where was I again?

Oh right, I recently tested Sunset by Jil Sander. Point! :D

The Scent:
The scent starts fresh and quite clean. Yes, it even briefly smells like freshly washed laundry and has something of fabric softeners. Maybe that's why I chose such a silly title for this fragrance review, as I couldn't think of anything else, and hey, who wouldn't want to see perfumes in underwear in the evening? He he, as always, the rule applies: put down the pitchfork, it's still a bit warmer than one would want to play "Catch the Cheeky Don Juan de Cat" in this heat! :D
Anyway, shortly after, you can smell the fruity peach, which soon blends with general floral notes. The roses can be well detected among all the flowers, and they remain one of the main scent notes here.
From the heart note (and especially in the base), however, the scent becomes quite floral and stuffy. That's something I really dislike in fragrances. Normally floral, when it smells of nice flowers or blossoms, I find quite okay, but when it smells so dry and even slightly biting, then the scent is absolutely not my thing. I'm never sure if I can describe exactly what I mean, but I always find it very unfortunate with fragrances, as it smells really unpleasant to me, at least when sniffed close to the skin.
This impression becomes especially clear in the later base, and only much later do these stuffy scent notes fade away. By then, it almost doesn't matter anymore, as the scent has also reached its end and remains only extremely faint on the skin, making it hardly noticeable. I think there are nicer scents for summer.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is normal. You are well perceived when standing next to someone. However, the projection fades quickly. I would estimate the longevity to be around six to seven hours, although it clings to the skin rather weakly for half that time.

The Bottle:
The bottle is rectangular, slim, and dark red. The cylindrical cap is also red and slightly shiny. On the front of the bottle, you can see the fragrance name in large, yellowish-golden letters. All in all, it's a bit simple, but still quite nice, especially since it feels good in the hand.

Conclusion:
So, to be honest, I expected a bit more. Maybe I'm the only one who didn't like the scent that much, and who knows, others might not perceive these biting, dry, stuffy floral notes as I do? Well, you just have to test it for yourselves, but I was hoping for a more relaxed and pleasant scent for summer, especially since the beginning of the fragrance was quite nice, and I usually find most Jil Sander fragrances rather pleasant.

Anyway, you can't have it all (like longer-lasting Tom Ford summer fragrances, non-demanding cats, or perfumes in underwear… he he), but maybe these criticisms are exactly the reasons why one keeps testing endlessly. On one hand, of course, for the fun of it all and the communication here with you pesky folks, and on the other hand, because of the never-ending search for the perfect fragrance, which you probably will never find, because one always has something to complain about! :D

Well, that's it from me again! I wish you all a lovely evening, see you next time :)

Fruity and floral scent, great for the summer. Like a luxurious body cream to dress a classy active lady. What Chanel °1 wanted to be. Top !

What a great flanker! It’s got that Sun DNA but indeed during sunset with a sangria instead of full mid-day sun.

Sorry, but I find it awful. An undefinable mix of fruit and something like rose, with a sweet base blend.

Like! I treated myself to the small bottle for my handbag. A lovely feminine travel scent: 1 spray in the morning is enough for the day in rose, peach & patch! Amen :-)
