I have been here for about 10 years now and have tested, worn, and bought not only the full mainstream designer program from the big perfume stores but also old and new rarities, niche fragrances, limited editions, original creations, as well as regional scents from all over the world… many of you have too. My favorites over the years have been M7 third version, Oud Wood, Aventus, chambre Noire, l'instant de guerlain eau extreme original version, Geir Ness, Dior Bois D’Argent, Dior homme intense second version, pure malt/havanne, Andy Warhole by Bond No. 9, as well as some Nasomattos and Parfums de Marlys and Kilians, Amouages… I write this as a kind of preface so that one can get an idea of whether they also like these scents or if personal taste goes in a completely different direction.
Night Flow:
I start by saying that I do not only dislike Tuscan Leather, despite being a long-time hardcore Tom Ford fan, but I cannot stand it on myself; it is one of those scents for me that I try to wash off and spray over. Yes, there is a similarity, but Night Flow lacks that biting raspberry, which could also be a cherry in Night Flow. The fruitiness is clearly there, but I wouldn’t suspect any raspberry behind it if it weren’t listed. Night Flow is for me the best perfume (not scent, because there are at least 5 things that come to mind that smell better than any perfume ever could) that I have ever smelled in my life; it is a perfection of everything I wish for in a perfume. It is soft, round, sweetish but not sweet, like a 20-year-old Taylor Tawny Port wine, warm, intense, and harmonious. An Oud Wood without its smokiness, an M7 without its scratchiness, a Chambre Noire without its heaviness. It is one of the strongest concentrations I have had so far, and just like with Nasomatto, a single spray is enough for the whole day and on clothing for several days. The 78ml is still just under half a year later for me. This stuff, with a 20% perfume oil content, is a knockout. I can go through a 100ml Aventus in 3-4 months in comparison, as I can wear it 2x a day with about 7-9 sprays.
I once wrote a review about a women's fragrance from Balenciaga, saying that I imagine my bride wearing this scent at our wedding. Well… Night Flow was the final fragrance for my own wedding; I smelled it for the first time just a few days before and it had also just been relatively newly released, but it made it directly into the "final arena," as there are probably few events in life where one cares so much about wearing the perfect scent as at one's own wedding. Of course, this scent is now forever associated with a lot of memory and emotion. It has a high recognition value and is excellent as a signature scent. It is only too loud and present for sports, the office, or the supermarket. At festive occasions, evening dates, winter walks… it is an absolute dream. Two people below write as a statement that it is not strong or has poor longevity; I can only speak for my example, and that is with 3 sprays overwhelmingly strong, that one occupies rooms and still smells hours later that one was somewhere. It would be interesting to know if the statement is based on a bottle or a decant.
The Scandal:
After such a long search for such an unbelievably good scent, which is a century masterpiece in my nose, I can hardly believe that I am the first to write a comment about it and that there are no entries in the souk. I have received many compliments when wearing it, and without exception, everyone who smelled it from the bottle (about 10 people in a year) commented with "wow……..wow," "absolute hammer," "man, this stuff smells good," and similar. Anyone who doesn’t know it should consider a test; I am also very curious to hear what people who also like the scents mentioned in my first section above have to say or write about it.
