Bubblegum & Barnyard
I dont know what to say about this perfume, after having had it for a long time, given it many chances. One time, it had this very interesting smell, but that smell never came back again, some days it smells okay, most days it doesnt.

This perfume should be avoided smelling up close on skin, thats when it will give this very disgusting bubblegum & barnyard smell, those two things just dont go hand in hand, others might like it. From distance, its more tolerable.

I've had different bottles of this perfume, and they all smell the same, bubblegum and barnyard.. Now I like a skanky oud, but this is too fecal for me, and then the bubble gum..

Picture yourself enjoying a thick over-sweetened bubblegum ice cream in a crowded stable full of cows shitting. The combination of those two, is what you get in this smell.

My Introduction to the Niche World
There I was, sitting in front of my phone. It's not uncommon for me to browse a bit on YouTube and watch some perfume videos to possibly get inspired. This time it was Marc Gebauer. "Kemi" is said to be an Italian luxury niche house and "Aqua Regia" would be amazing. Well then, let's see where I can buy it and what it costs... I found nothing. In no perfumery, nor in Gebauer's online shop. Only the price, I found that. And had to swallow. "So this is going nowhere," I thought... but I was mistaken. I found it here, Solis. Price? Swallow.
Before I fully realized it, my hands had pressed the button to complete the purchase, and I was excited about what awaited me. This would be my first niche fragrance; it would surely be sweet and mass-appealing like my designer scents, or so I thought. Think again!
The package arrived, and I unwrapped the fragrance, which was an experience in itself. I was ready to be enchanted by the perfume, sprayed it, and hoped for wonders.
In the very first second, I felt like I was in heaven, as if it were something magical, but in the next moments, something entered my nose that I didn't like, and I leaned back. It smelled earthy, slightly animalistic, not sweet at all as I had thought. I guess it was the oud. In any case, I was slightly disappointed. But in the following minutes and even hours, I had to keep taking a sniff, and the longer the evening went on, the better "Solis" became! I learned to get along with the oud, as well as the woody notes, benzoin, and vetiver that made their appearance. It is by no means my dream fragrance, but it is certainly good. I think Kemi has sold me the theme of the Orient quite well here; the scent reminds me of oriental nights and experiences in big cities, while also giving me a wonderful feeling of calm, allowing me to lean back. With these impressions, I ended up taking it to a very good friend some time later and wore it. The whole afternoon & evening, as well as until noon the next day, this scent was noticeable, and even when I was gone, she texted me that "Solis" could be smelled throughout the entire living room! So you won't go wrong with a purchase in terms of longevity & sillage.
In the meantime, several other (niche) fragrances have joined my collection, which I usually prefer over this one, as they align more with my expectations. Nevertheless, my exploration journey into the niche world started here with Solis, and for that, I will always be grateful to it.

On the Warm Oven Bench
Once upon a time, people had no central heating, gas stoves, or electric heating devices. To stay warm, the noblest option was a large fireplace, where well-seasoned wood was stacked. The "simplest" version was a "cannon stove," heated with wood and coal. In between, there was the tiled stove, which I believe is the coziest variant. Usually, there was a bench by the stove where one could sit when feeling cold. The logs were often within reach nearby. And there were various types of wood used for different purposes. Pine (Kien) shavings for kindling, fast-growing poplar wood for quick warmth, and for "long-lasting embers," solid, slow-burning beech or acacia wood.
These woods all had their own scent, both as freshly chopped wood and when burning. The pine wood was very resinous. The beech wood was herb-sweet-slightly resinous. The poplar wood was cool-green-aromatic! And other woods, in turn, had a multitude of nuances.
Here, I have a warm, cozy wood scent in front of me with Solis, fulfilling all "expectations" of a cozy tiled stove fire. Soft, aromatic, slightly resinous, rounded, finely smoky, and warming for winter. Sitting on the oven bench with a good cup of coffee, reading an interesting book, leaving the cold outside, doing something good for body and soul after a tiring workday. And simply enjoying.

I find it very hard to relate with Kankuro on this one. Rotten banana really worried me: none here! Beautiful, dry, benzoin in the base.

The sun makes Davana shine.
That's why vetiver, wood, and benzoin
form a circle where oud and vanilla

A bit like Relique d'Amour with gum. Fresh sweet with recognizability. Bright-musty, patch-sweet.
