I Don't Need a Prince by My Side to Be a Princess Eau Fraîche Kilian 2023

This Eau Fraiche version of the original Princess adds bergamot and is a brighter, lighter profile than the original fragrance. It moves from a more gourmand heavy ginger marshmallow to a more fresh, green tea centered scent. While not overly complex, it is a powerhouse performer and a delicious likable scent. Warm without being overbearing, sweet without being cloying. A nice one for every day.

I'll be honest, from the scent description from the brand I wasn't going into this expecting much. However, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and light it is. For the summer this would be very easy to wear. Gives the impression of fresh honeydew or cantaloupe on my skin, reminiscent of picnics by the lake with friends.

I'm a big fan of the original I Don't Need A Prince By My Side To Be A Princess, and the Eau Fraiche didn't disappoint either! It's just what I imagined. The fluffy vanilla marshmallow and green tea are exactly the same as in the EDP, but everything is a little lighter, fresher and airier - as it should be with an Eau Fraiche. The biggest difference between the two is the pronounced ginger note in this. It's fresh-spicy and invigorating, especially in the opening, while it was only a light accent in the original. The bergamot might add to that effect.

If fragrances were drinks, Princess would be a green tea cheesecake drink from a boba shop and Eau Fraiche would be a sugared, carbonated iced green tea with a touch of vanilla. Still very sweet, but in a more transparent way.

I can't imagine that anyone who enjoys the original would dislike this, but I also don't think you really need both. Except maybe when Princess is your absolute favorite and signature and you want a version that is more appropriate for summer. It's hard to decide between these two, both are truly lovely if you're into gourmands and tea scents, but as I have Princess EDP, I won't buy the Eau Fraiche anytime soon.

I am thrilled with the scent.

It opens with a fresh vanilla lemon and I perceive a slight saltiness. Simply pleasant and soothing.

The vanilla or the marshmallow is so light and fluffy due to the lemon that the fragrance is ideal for spring and summer.

A carefree spring and summer gourmand.

In the drydown, the scent smells like warm, slightly salty skin that has been previously moisturized with a sweet lotion.

Simply pleasant and beautiful.

For me, it is a feel-good fragrance.

Longevity is about 3-4 hours and the projection is well noticeable in the first 2 hours; afterwards, unfortunately, it becomes very close to the skin.

I will certainly use up my decant and I like the scent, but due to the unsatisfactory longevity and sillage, it would not be a candidate for purchase for me.
