Civilization, Fertility, and Divine Purity - Libation for Gaia, the Hesperides, and Apollo
Creaking leather boots stomp on citrus peels, swirling surrounding spices. Dry earth soaks up botanical juices.
One stumbles upon all sorts of perfumes and care products in the nature-certified or nature-inspired perfumery. Most perfumes from this genre fail to take me along. Often they seem simple to me, sometimes even clumsy or, ironically, too synthetic.
Be it with Korres or Durance, with a few exceptions at 100BON or especially at L'Occitane en Provence.
This time, however, Korres has directly captured me, unexpectedly with an Eau de Cologne from the "Clean Beauty" category.
This nature-connected cologne makes a statement. At least it feels very "bold" to me.
It opens aromatically, overall naturalistic and deep: earthy-citrusy, herb-fresh with unsweetened, velvety leather.
After the drydown, it becomes spicy-sweet with subtly smoky notes. And in the finish, I get hints of olive wood.
A Mediterranean, dry field landscape in late summer, transitioning to autumn, was my first association.
But "Bergamot + Leather Cologne" is versatile: It accompanies the modern hero through the awakening of spring to olive wood care, just as it does through the mandarin harvest in early autumn. Fresh from the barber, conquering dusty wild paths of Greece, with a protective leather armor. Solid, rustic craftsmanship for the whole year.
It doesn’t reinvent the world but adds a beautiful cologne that feels light while having a strong base. It lingers discreetly, close to the body. An honest leather scent that doesn’t take over the entire room.
Packed in a spray bottle, it applies particularly pleasantly.
Well-groomed, unobtrusive, and seriously masculine, with a versatility that suits changeable weather and equally changeable temperatures.
