Like a shy and modern version of a powerhouse perfume of yesteryear
It opens rather floral and surprisingly strong for an EdT. I have trouble recognizing the dahlia or lychee in the opening, but it does smell floral, rich and pleasant. The bergamot is there as a supporting actor, like a ghost hiding behind the drapes. Nonetheless, a pleasant opening with decent projection at this point. After the first fifteen minutes or so the sparklyand sweet raspberry starts to make it's entrance. It adds a little air to breathe, and a light sweetness. It no longer smells heavy and rich, but the scent is still noticeable. The peony is there to tone down the raspberry and does a great job blending in.
Once it dries down it's mostly a combination of amber and vanilla to my nose (eventhough vanilla is not mentioned in the notes here, it seems to be part of the gourmand notes). I personally don't find the patchouli to be very present. Midnight Dahlia lasts for about 5 hours on my skin, which is decent but not great for an EdT. Apparently it's composition very closely resembles that of Sì Eau de Parfum however I can't compare the two because I have yet to smell Si myself.
While Midnight Dahlia can be worn in the daytime, it shines more as an evening/night time scent because of the richness and floral opening. It's a warm scent, a little bit sexy in the opening and cozy in the drydown. I feel like this is a powerhouse among the Eau de Toillettes of the world, as most modern EdT's usually end up being subtle because of fresh or aquatic notes. Midnight Dahlia definitely challenges that notion.
