A sultry and peculiar rose fragrance
Many thanks to Sören for the bottling of Manhattan Rose 44 :-) This is a really unconventional rose fragrance that leaves me a little confused. At least I've never perceived rose in a fragrance like this before. More on that later. It lasts a good 8 to 10 hours and the sillage is not to be sneezed at either.
The top note starts directly with a bouquet of red roses. But rather one that is thrown in your face full blast. Oddly enough, it also smells sour, green, synthetic and aldehydic. In the heart note, I detect a lot of rose water with a hint of cypress. The base remains, oh wonder, a sea of flowers consisting of rose geranium, iris and violet. Unfortunately, I don't find this florality beguiling but rather annoying. There is still a soapy quality in the background.
Of course, it could also be that I am simply overwhelmed by this blatant "rose presentation". If you love roses to bits, you could make a big hit here. But only if money is no object, because the bottle is outrageously expensive.
