Krizia's New Dress
The Italian has received a new dress.
And as is often the case with new dresses, underneath she is still quite the same.
As far as I can tell from the two versions I own (the Eau de Toilette from the 1980s and the Eau de Parfum in this 2012 variant), I can assert this.
Aside from the fact that I find the Eau de Parfum to be slightly stronger, I notice no significant difference between the two.
K de Krizia is a well-established floral chypre of the old school.
Aldehydic at the start, then a bit creaky and distant with very present, bitter moss.
Flowers come in and lend the fragrance a slightly cool elegance.
Alongside this, I perceive a very delicate hint of soap.
Over time, the moss loses some of its strictness and the scent becomes softer and more embracing.
And in the background lurks the - in my case quite friendly - cat.
All in all, K has a somewhat old-school overall vibe.
As a young girl, I would have avoided it like all fragrances with this bitter green oakmoss chypre base, which I only learned to appreciate and love over time.
My subjective impression is that they mature over time, lose their sharpness, and actually get better and better.
I like K de Krizia in her new guise just as much as in the old one.
