Mood Indigo
One needs to be in the right mood to don Moods by Krizia, a carnation- and muguet-heavy floral. I wear it in the colder part of New York springs, when I'm tired of my warming orientals and chypres but not ready for the tingle of summery tea and citrus scents. (Two other florals I wear at that time of year are Lancome Climat and YSL Paris, to give you a picture.) With its strong dose of new greenery, Moods fits in well with a blustery March. But it's spring in a minor key --nothing in the bottle lifts a residual winter funk. For those who want sunshine on a cloudy day, try something aldehydic.

The Holy Bimbam and Splinters in the Knee!
Holy Bimbam is something I often exclaim when I particularly like or dislike something (but that's not the case here), and I have splinters in my knee because I've been sliding around on the floor all day to worship Moods or the holy Bimbam, in this case the unknown perfumer who created this wonderful scent. But maybe it was a SHE? Who knows more?
Moods lays itself on the skin like green silk from the very beginning. Green lemons, green fruits, but not refreshing green like many Eau Fresh nowadays. It’s a green cloak made of heavy satin. Absolute density, condescending elegance. The lady in the "Green Salon," who casually arranges a bouquet of lily of the valley in a pretty, rounded vase and later sits on the bench by the window to indulge in the black-purple scent orchid (Zygopetalum).
The floral orgy of the heart note deepens by the minute. Not thumping, not overwhelming, as one might expect from a fragrance of the 1980s, but simply breathtakingly beautiful. A skillful balance between OLD and NEW! A worthy finish with wood, needles, and sensual musk.
The Donna is Donnawetta!

In the mood
My father was a fervent fan of Glenn Miller and I was already passionate about music as a little kid.

So we often swung together through the living room.

He also told me that the song means in the mood, in the spirit.

Oh - Glenn Miller must have been a cheerful person - just like my father.
He also didn't allow himself any "moods," but dealt with his problems on his own.
Others were not affected by it.
A character trait that I greatly appreciated in him.

So I had to think of him when I discovered the Mood bottle.

Would the fragrance allow itself high-handed moods?

No, Glenn Miller swung towards me - and the humorous nature of my father.

Green grassy freshness wafts towards me - powdered by iris and accompanied by velvety rose.
The garden carnation subtly joins the play - supported by delicate woodiness.

Glenn Miller plays from the radio - and I dance barefoot in the garden with my father.

Without Moo(d)s, nothing happens
Wow, I hardly know anything about Krizia so far. A great starting point is the female Moods version for this brand and at the same time a definite teaser for the men's version, which unfortunately has been discontinued and is at least as rare as the Donna variant. But this one really blew me away today and brightened up an allergy-laden spring day despite its scratchy moss aura.

Moods Donna truly starts with a storm of green citrus fruits. Initially a bit harsh, but you quickly get used to the tone. Then the grass-covered bergamot slowly transitions into even more mature, masculine green notes. A kind of vetiver feeling combines with a floral mix of the highest quality. A true emotional whirlwind, perfect for spring. Also for men, of course. More men should really start exploring the older women's fragrances, as they fit perfectly with the mature man of today. What women wore in the 80s can easily be worn by the 30-year-old man of 2014. Moods then finds its not quite perfect, too grayish-faded finish with more smoke and a slightly worn cedar note. Still, overall a scent as green, green, green as the gentian.

Bottle: so bulky and ugly, almost cult-like again.
Sillage: not a wallflower, but still quite acceptable everywhere.
Longevity: crowning the composition - 10-12 hours!

Somehow grim, somehow cheerful, somehow green, somehow gray - simply beautifully complex, capturing all conceivable facets of the color green!

a larger whole
Moods are multifaceted, hardly tangible, in a state of eternal change and hardly influenceable. We can 'only' allow and accept them - which is difficult enough - if we want to make friends with them. Or decipher their deeper message. Repressing and wanting to avoid them turns unpleasant feelings into bothersome permanent guests, to put it nicely.
So let us engage with "moods," the fragrance that leads us into the complex realm of inner feelings.

On the surface, the top notes exude a great mood, bright and optimistic, herbaceous and green, sparkling and dynamic. Like when lemon butterflies flutter over blooming nature on an early summer day, carried by a light breeze and always following the most enticing floral scent. Life is light, colorful, and - 'hopefully it stays that way,' the self may think and wish; that part of us that would prefer to keep everything under control.
Thank goodness we are more, we have a soul, and it delights in the continuation of the mood journey. And now we venture into HER realm, into our inner depth. The vehicles for this are intensifying and darkening green notes, like the breath of a dense, mystical forest. And this breath transports us into a knowing and sensing atmosphere of creamy, ripe flowers and rounding, fully ripe fruits. In this heart note, even the deep green seems to acquire a creamy melt that lends its chord as a supportive accompaniment to all components.

From the initial bright, good mood, a deep feeling of being carried and embraced in a larger whole has emerged. And in this larger whole, which conveys to us this rounded variety of facets in the heart note, we can linger for a long time thanks to a respectable longevity of about 10 hours, along with a simultaneously presence-generating sillage. So this is not a fragrance to hide, but it invites us to stand by it. And since this perfume neither thumps nor comes across as overtly animalistic, but is 'only' powerfully and dynamically on its way, right up to the soft coniferous woody musk base that only reveals itself after a few hours, I am very happy to stand by it. The longer, the better!

Radiant floral scent with a distinctly green hue that almost has a plant-like character, making it quite unique.

A skillful mix of deep green notes (leaves, plant sap) & a sea of flowers (only the jasmine is a bit too strong for me). A gem from the 1980s.

Moods, characteristically green, but dark, a rich, mossy green, not bright and cheerful. Also an "underrated marvel"...

This stuff is divine!
Now the jasmine comes through...green but only slightly, more of a bitter green. More floral, but on the "dirtier" side.

In my opinion, it has 2 scent twins: French Lime Blossom (J. Malone) and ZETA A Linden Blossom (Tauer). At least at first, later it’s more floral than these.

Flowers in the woods with many blooms, mosses, ferns, trees. Very complex and intriguing. A special women's fragrance.
