Goth sandalwood

Goth sandalwood :D One of the very few LVNEA scent I don't particularly vibe with. Possibly because I am so done with sandalwood as a note, it is ubiquitous and plentiful, and I am on a different perfume journey away from sandalwood at the moment. I also struggle with camphor note on my skin, it smells like a medicinal pickle (?) for the lack of a better description. I think this scent is good, it just doesn't work on my skin and doesn't fit my personality.

A phantom-like, lunar blend…

Opens cool, medicinal, slightly spicy, green—camphor, myrrh and jasmine beginning to work their magic immediately… The slight spice of the black pepper soon fades as the vermouth leads into a smooth, herbal and creamy heart. There’s an opaque, opalescent and downright lunar quality given to the jasmine here, which is already naturally evocative of the sultry night air, but in combination with the mentholated aspects of the camphor, the smoky, resinous copal and the pale, phantom-like earthy-powdery orris this blend captures the night in an otherworldly sense—reminiscent of those moments in the depths of twilight, on the brink of deep slumber where you can’t help but lose track of what reality you’re in…

Silky sandalwood and warming ambrette complement the base wonderfully, providing a comforting wooden butteriness. I also find there to be some slight vanillic and chocolate nuances present.

Altogether I find this a naturally bewitching nocturnal blend, reminiscent of both the innate innocence and lunacy that the nighttime brings… Sillage moderate to strong, longevity superb. Priced competitively among niche.

Opalescent Wonder

Les Lunatiques is probably my most-worn fragrance, and yet I still can't fully wrap my head around it. Depending on the day, I could use any combination of the following words to describe it: creamy, sweet, floral, musky, resinous, woody, powdery, spicy, ambery. Some days I get mostly a delicate white floral, other days it's more resinous and rich. Some days it's even a bit tart and metallic. It's somehow warm and cold at the same time, sensual yet lonely. I don't understand it but I love it.

Fairly unisex, but leans feminine on the days when I'm getting more jasmine. More of a cold-weather scent but I don't really care, I wear it all year round. Perfect for a contemplative night in solitude, when I feel most in sync with the moon (I'm a Cancer okay, I love a good moody broody evening in my feels). Complex and unique, I would absolutely recommend Les Lunatiques if you plan to sample from LVNEA.
