Shalimar Homophone

This fragrance, composed by the great Cécile Zaraokian, is often compared to Shalimar. And the comparisons start with the name. 2 homophone words: Kashnoir, Shalimar. right? Is almost they want us to notice that. But to be honest, after wearing them for some time, you will find more differences than similarities.

Despite the vanilla-bergamot combo, this is a completely different scent. A rose driven scent with more freshness to it. A bit tart and bitter in the opening, super fresh and refreshing, with some aromatics to make it unisex (I detect a shy orange blossom too) and, after 10-15min, the "pièce de résistance": A heliotrope note. I love heliotrope and this has a slightly Après L'Ondée Eau de Toilette vibe. Don't get me wrong, the don't smell similar, but you find the heliotrope with that "fresh-powdery almond" effect, as you find it on the Guerlain one.

Overall, a fresh rose scent with creamy-powdery-vanilla aura around. Super high quality and with a good price point. A good niche house btw. I find this brand very underrated but with some hits. This is one of them with good performance, very persistant but not super loud. A good bubble around you for 8-10h.

I like to wear it during spring time or fall, specially on sunny days, where this powdery rose shines.

sweet baby powder

this opens with a very fresh citrusy blend with an herbal lavender. The opening subsides pretty fast and you get right into the coriander and rose. The heart smells aromatic and slightly spiced with a prominent rose and sweet orange blossom. The dry down smells like....sweet baby powder? And after letting it sit for a while that baby powder turns very herbal bordering medicinal. This one was fine at first, just a meh scent but ever full dry down I hated it unfortunately.

So much has already been written about this bombshell. Yet my fingers are itching.
Kashnoir is a real spice bomb. One that makes you sneeze and scares you so much that you lose your breath *g*
Cheeky and sultry, patchouli, heliotrope, vanilla, and bergamot come on strong. Like a girl who wavers between being a girl and a full woman. Then lavender and rose sneak in, and suddenly the girl is like a little child fiddling with her braids. So innocent, gentle, but with a mischievous glint in her eye. You have to be careful, because the little girl and the big girl collide and step on a spice pouch, and coriander, orange blossom, a few lavender seeds, and heliotrope puff around them *cough*.
And when they’ve both had enough fun, come down from their "high," and the room looks like a pigsty, they cuddle up together, calm down, and simply enjoy the nurturing, caring Kashnoir.

Winter Cuddler with a Small Flaw!

From my highly esteemed brand Laboratorio Olfattivo, today it was Kashnoir's turn!
A brand where I have yet to experience a failure, but also no sky-high stunner! This won't change significantly with Kashnoir.
Kashnoir is very well done, flattering, and extraordinary..actually sufficient criteria for the wish list. It starts beautifully, with great fresh citrus notes and ethereal lavender, which really clears the sinuses..strong, but not too piercing. I can also detect a lovely and slightly sweaty orange blossom, which wonderfully creates a slightly warm and soft contrast..so far so good! But after about 10 minutes, an unpleasant and disturbing note emerges, I suspect it's the coriander; I like to describe this note as not quite fresh flower water. This note ruins the entire fragrance for me, just like in Aeon001. I do enjoy a "dirty" contrast in fragrances, yes, even (flattened) edges and corners..but this slight "rotting scent" I do not like either in a vase or in a fragrance!
Blessed is he who does not smell this note! Although the note noticeably weakens after 1-2 hours, it never completely disappears. Otherwise, this is a very nice ambered, balsamic scent with a strong vanilla-almond-wood note, thus probably better suited for the female world. I would recommend Alkemi to men if they like this direction; there everything is a bit more moderate and therefore more suitable for men.
The appropriate seasons for me are autumn and winter or also on cool spring days, like the ones we are currently having! A beautiful but not entirely simple fragrance, like Alkemi as well, which unfortunately is disqualified due to its flaw.
The longevity is, as often with Laboratorio Olfattivo, very very good; I can perceive it for over 8 hours, with elevated sillage.
