dewy and earthy

this smells like sweet grass with dewy florals and earthy oakmoss. It opens with the smell of very green and fresh accords with a dewiness, very aquatic. The florals here are very airy and light, breezy and fresh. They feel like flowers surrounding a lake in the middle of spring. The base of this is much earthier with a prominent oakmoss, but it’s close to skin with a fresh and watery musk. It feels more grounded and blended nicely. I love the smell of this one but just wish the projection was stronger and the longevity is abysmal.

At first it was very green,

But it lasted just a moment! Then the leaves were moved away by a blow of wind, and as the branch gets out of your sight you discover a beautiful white floreal valley. A delicate bouquet of flowers, that melts into your skin like you were rolling in that field, as you did as child. Peaceful, comforting, a come back to beautiful childhood memories during the first days of spring.

In the Beautiful Month of May

As all the buds burst,
In my heart
Love has blossomed.

Strictly speaking, in this famous poem by Heine, only the bursting buds have something to do with scent. And when they have burst, they create such flowery sensations as I find in Decou-Vert. Esteemed gentlemen, I am not quite sure if this is a fragrance for us; at least, a certain caution would be advisable here. There is a gathering of strong and white flowers, and as beautiful as that may be, in combination with a slightly sweet musky base, this scent, for my narrow-minded perception, belongs to the ladies (exceptions confirm the rule). The flowers are not cloying, not heavy, and for me, who has a bit of a hard time with jasmine and lily of the valley, as that can trigger migraines, everything feels cool and well-ventilated. Indeed, as if one is walking barefoot over a still damp meadow at this very time of year - and the flowers are not far away.
I think floral scents are extremely difficult to put into words, because normally one says: Smells like… rose, lilac, tuberose, columbine… Wait, how does columbine smell? Exactly, there lies the problem. One must already know the respective scent. When the fragrance components mix into a floral blend, it becomes even more challenging. I can identify jasmine, lily of the valley has a rather cooling effect here and is well dosed, but overall it combines into a kind of fresh over-flower without a citrus note, rather with a slightly soapy tint. Admirable how control has been maintained here, so that these strong fragrance notes do not "go wild" and how the overall composition retains something light and airy through a watery-green undertone. Interesting how placeless, how little these white flowers seem bound to the wearer. This scent is always elsewhere. But one should not think that this is a shy fragrance. Flowers are not an empty word and are indeed meant seriously. With a slight hint of vanilla or delicate sweetness, the scent, despite its white-green essence, becomes quite cuddly, but in a certain way for me, I use a cliché, girlish. Yes, young men can wear this - but they probably won't want to. And those not quite so young, like myself, will not be able to… unfortunate. The scent is assertive understatement, suggesting a fresh individuality and presence for me. The texture of a silky petal. The temperature of a late spring morning. A discovery and unearthing in green and white, as I have already said. If a man were to receive such a gift, I can recommend passing it on with certainty. It will be well received. Perhaps next spring, more of it will be needed.

Very beautiful spring fragrance!

With this brand, there is always something interesting to discover. Whether it's Alkemi, Nirmal, or Salina, you often get something extraordinary! Decou-Vert is no exception!
Perhaps testing it now is 4 months too late, as it fits perfectly into spring, but it still has enough charm and depth for cooler autumn temperatures!
It starts wonderfully green-fresh, with grasses, flowers, everything that spring has to offer! It's not an extremely extraordinary start; at first glance, it could very well be by Annick Goutal. You can't reinvent the wheel in this fragrance direction, but just a few minutes in, what makes the fragrance stand out comes to light... a warm, slightly sweet creaminess. Musk and a hint of wood create a delicious depth that clearly catapults it out of the ordinary.
Decou-Vert is a calm, sensitive fragrance, stylish and balanced. It is perfect for quiet hours or provides peaceful moments... when you need a break, wanting to escape the hustle and bustle.
Due to its calm presence, it is also very suitable for wearing at work; I don’t see it as well-suited for the evening. The longevity is completely fine at 5 hours, the sillage is slightly above average and always very stylish, never loud.
For me, it's a 70:30 women's fragrance, so my sample can move on. A very successful fragrance from a brand that rarely disappoints!

Green Magic

Recently, a sample from Laboratorio Olfattivo's Décou-Vert was included in a fragrance mailer. Even the box in which the sample is placed is simple and completely unadorned in pure white. I also really like the bottles of this niche perfumer with their clear and extremely minimalist design, as they draw attention more to the content than to the packaging with their uncompromising simplicity.

The fragrance itself is a real surprise for the nose.

The opening occurs with a green note. What am I saying - a green note? No, it is a green clearing with rampant leaves, ferns, and other vegetation. I see fleshy light green plants, lushly growing in all shades of green, completely covering the ground, making it difficult to wade through the leaves to find the lily of the valley growing beneath. In contrast to some overly exuberant, childishly sweet representatives of their kind, this is a rather restrained, very light and fresh lily of the valley.

As we transition to the heart note, the green recedes somewhat into the background, but never disappears. The green frames and accompanies the emerging floral notes like in a bouquet. However, this is not a lush bouquet of wildflowers but rather a green arrangement with jasmine and magnolia.

Finally, Décou-Vert fades into a warm and bright, light wood note that lingers on my skin for a long time.

I am pleased to note here that there are indeed fragrances with green notes that I like. Décou-Vert evokes a scene in my mind, perhaps in the forest, where the sun - where it penetrates the leafy canopy - makes the green of the plants shine in all shades. I also appreciate the lightness of this creation. There is nothing heavy or pretentious here, and yet this fragrance is intense and long-lasting.

It is equally wearable for women and men.

I would wear it more during the day, but for many occasions.
