Grape candy, not cherry
I didn't smell any cherry. I tried it on a hot day with room temperature over 25 degrees and humidity of 46%.
The moment I put it on, I smelled grapes. Huh? After that, it smelled more like grapes than cherries. It smelled like grapes, or grape candy, from Fanta. It was similar to Givenchy's Rose a la Folie. Rose a la Folie smells like candy apple, but a little stronger.
It becomes a little powdery when it settles down. It smells a little like heliotrope or benzoin. Still, it doesn't smell like cherry.
I have a tolerance for gourmand scents, so even if I wear a designer brand perfume, I don't get a headache from sweet smells. This is not a matter of sense, but a matter of DNA.
I was hoping for a cherry scent like Lolita Lempicka or La Petite, but I could only smell grapes. Where is the cherry? What if you licked a Chupa Chups, thought it was cherry flavored, and opened your mouth, only to find it was a deep blue grape color? It's a huge surprise considering the bottle is so red. But this scent certainly reminds me of Stanley Kubrick's Lolita. Lollipops and hard red-rimmed sunglasses. Such a dangerous charm.
Like other reviewers, I agree that it smells like juice on a hot day, and like Rose a la Folie, it's delicious to open the fridge and drink cold grape juice on a thirsty summer night. It just smells like artificial grapes.
I was expecting a pretty rich scent, but to be honest, it was very light and disappointing. It's a very fun scent that makes you want to skip, and I think it's great for days when I'm tired of vanilla and want to have some fruit in between, as a foodie. However, I can't classify it as a cherry perfume. It smelled completely grapey to my nose.
Anyone who says this is a cherry scent is just following the instructions or it's a placebo. It's not a cherry scent at all. Compared to La Petite and Candy Gloss, it's definitely less cherry-flavored, and the original Lempicka is definitely more cherry-flavored.
