Only halflings left in the Shire.
OG, or "original gangster" is called in the language of the generation TikTok the original version of something that was once (good), and in its current version - at least - is different.
Homme is Lolita Lempicka's 2018 reissue of the popular Au Masculin, the OG, which is, after all, no longer available.
As with the Au, a sweet licorice accord is the focus of Homme. Immediately when spraying on, this warm, uncomplicated but unusual note plays the main role. In addition, comes, due to the absinthe, something alcoholic, which evaporates, however, after not even five minutes, until the fragrance already after 30 minutes in a skin-tight vanilla-musk combination, the licorice note thereby but always beibehaltend.
In the Au Masculin is all more defined, especially the boozy top note comes across clearer, thereby also felt spicier, and lasts longer. The fragrance simply seems higher resolved and more valuable than Homme. By the way, this also applies to durability and sillage: Where the Au has quite a decent performance, Homme makes rather half-long. After 4 hours, he is close to the skin, he can not really radiate even with generous dosage.
What I particularly like about both is the atmosphere they conjure. Homme seems, like Au Masculin, fabulous, spherical, playful and cozy, and thus remains true to the theme of many Lempicka fragrances. You can really let yourself fall into a fairy forest here, gingerbread house and all. This gives this pair of fragrances a high recognition value with high wearability at the same time, although not to formal affairs. Anise, or licorice freshen up the inherently sweet scent, which I would otherwise rather assign to the cold season, to the extent that it also fits in spring and cooler summer days, not least because of its lightness. But: Homme, even more than the Au Masculin is rather a for-you-alone fragrance, so a kind of mood background, in contrast to statement fragrances such as Aventus and Sauvage or clean men like Prada.
Au Masculin is no longer around, so Lempicka Homme stands without competition for me. Too bad, because I would have liked the OG as it was, or a lighter cologne that picks up the sweet licorice and continues to think summer-ready. Lempicka Homme is neither.

The famous second chance
This fragrance has really not received much attention so far. Time to drag him a little more out of the shadows.
Well, I'm not really the friend for scent experiments on unknown matter. But how did I actually get this scent? A few months ago I had my almost full YSL Cologne Bleu in my souk. From the YSL I once got a sample in the perfumery and I really liked it. My wife then gave me a bottle for my birthday - but I was really disappointed by the performance, so good Yves was allowed to leave me again. A perfumer wrote to me and offered me the good Lolita. Happy that Yves could leave (he had been in the souk for a while), I agreed. That was my first blind swap/purchase.

After I was allowed to call Lolita my own, I was somehow disappointed. It had for me a hint of Le Male and other similar things - which is not bad, but not at all my fragrance. Resigning and giving without a second chance, I advertised Lolita again in the souk. The response to the fragrance was quite besch..., uh clear to not present and I was annoyed that I had souked up an unknown fragrance, which then has only five ratings on perfume. Who should be interested in buying or exchanging?
Now some months had passed since the exchange and I sprayed Lolita from "boredom" once again on my wrist. Maybe it was because I had trained my nose a little in the meantime by the acquisition of many, very many samples and fillings and had increased my tolerance and openness towards other than fresh smells somewhat (Oriental is still not really mine, but I have already had a few under the nose, which I would be quite ready to wear as an alternative with scarcity of raw materials for fresh smells), but suddenly I found Lolita no longer bad, therefore not bad at all, really good.

Behind all this sweetness hides something slightly machine oil, benzotic, almost smoky, which makes the scent more masculine than I noticed when I first sniffed it. I find it no longer oriental, but rather sweet and smoky with a hint of detergent. The insertion of the cleaning agent is due to my scent experience in a holiday apartment in the USA. There, the elevator was cleaned daily with an extremely fragrant agent, which has a rather strong resemblance to Lolita.

If you browse through the forum, you'll read that Lempicka Homme is said to be a descendant of Au Masculin from the same family. Since I am in absolute ignorance of Au Masculin, I can neither negate nor confirm this. All I can say is that Lempicka Homme should get more attention because it's really a solid fragrance that could please many who find Le Male too sloppy, Reflection too expensive and Pegasus too violent. I don't want to say that this Lolita here is an imitation of the above-mentioned scents - it really isn't, but you have a few big cousins in common.
My knowledge of sweet scents is limited, but if you gentlemen like Givenchy, Luna Rossa (Extreme) or YSL La Nuit, this scent might be your favorite
The shelf life is quite ok with 6 to 7 hours, the Sillage leaves nothing to be desired.

So if you ever get the chance, you should treat yourself to a little nose of the fragrance. My Lolita stays with me for now :-)
Thanks for reading

Her Sweeeet, Sw, Sw, Sweeeet can...
Having been a fan of the original Au Masculin, this was an easy transition for me. Couldn't be happier with how Lempicka modernized this one. Absolutely still has the original DNA, but they've somehow managed to simultaneously tame and concentrate it. If you're familiar with audio compression in sound engineering, the concept is similar. Take the resolution of the original formula, reduce the dynamic range of the notes by squeezing them at both ends and normalize. In this case, the result is an extraordinarily well-balanced composition that doesn't stray much from a single and persistent accord - and it's sweeeeeet.

To sum up the fragrance in one sentence, it's basically a straight line of incredibly tantilizing sweetness that hovers somewhere between fennel-flavoured woody sugar water and boozy syrup. On paper, the opening is an absolute BLAST of sugary apple, syrup and vanilla, followed by an expertly blended licorice and some kind of weak cinnamon-esque spice. In fact, the woody apple somehow reminds me of fragrances in the style of Boss No. 6 or Lacoste Pour Homme - both of which would easily fall into the same category of casual sweeties. Don't be fooled though, Lempicka Homme is FAR sweeter than both, with an obvious emphasis on the saccharine-laden base notes mingled with a wonderful TOUCH of anise.

Sure enough, on skin it's a bit of a different story. Almost immediately you get the anise and booze, but within minutes everything settles into a Le Male-esque woody sweetness that I swear, permeates quantum dimensions of reality, it's really quite astonishing. Like a smooth and tantilizing finger of liquid syrup, it reaches out to tickle the pleasure receptors of noses that come anywhere near it. In essence, it's a very simple scent - almost generic - but boy is it lovely. In fact, when I purchased the bottle, it came in a gift set with an aftershave balm and when I picked up the box, I could smell the damn thing right through the packaging. Super pleasing, easy to like and subtley addictive. Immediate approval, despite the reform.

And if you think about it, it's not really that much of a surprise. Modern formulations are almost always tamer, weaker and sweeter, and this one is no exception. BUT - and it's a big but(t) - Lempicka Homme still manages to balance the notes really well and maintain decent longevity - something that really surprised me the first couple times I wore it. I even tested it in incredibly hot weather and during workouts with no problems whatsoever. Morever, despite the incessant sweetness, it's thin enough to be worn all year long without becoming cloying - a rare attribute among sweet or gourmand leaning fragrances.

But if there's one area in which this stuff excels, it's layering. Combine it with any fruity, woody, smoky, boozy or gourmand scent and it can add that extra ingredient (SUGAR!) that draws people in like flies to a piece of sh.......ugary icing. And maybe it's just me, but I think it's a bit sensual. As in...the sexy kind. A thin, understated woody sweetness with just a dash of spice...that makes existence extra nice, wink wink. Maybe Belle was onto something. Thumbs up from me. Great atomizer too. A very solid release from Lempicka for someone looking to please the masses. Or themselves. Not judging. Now it's time for some sweeeeeeet....

Licorice snacker gets nothing to snack on
I love licorice! I love it in all variations, colors and flavors!
Salty, Frisian, liquorice, as a liqueur and especially the sticky liquorice molasses from Holland that you can buy in every supermarket there.
Some people run away as soon as they hear the name liquorice.
I, on the other hand, could snack on licorice at every opportunity.

Curious as I am, I naturally wanted to snack on Lempicka's licorice and so I sprayed Lempicka Homme on my wrist, full of anticipation and liquorice expectation.
However, the joy quickly faded, because this licorice note was not at all what I had imagined.

With a lot of imagination, a certain licorice note could be heard, but it had something dusty and musty about it.
No anise, more of a herbaceous caraway note.
More green than sweet. Slightly tart and no soft vanilla at all, which, if present, would certainly have provided a great contrast.
Perhaps it could even have been a Jean Paul Gaultier competitor, but unfortunately not like this.

It all comes across as a bit unrounded and untidy, as if Lempicka had thrown everything that could smell good into the cooking pot without stirring.
The sillage is not particularly pronounced either.
At least the shelf life of 6 hours is still just okay.

Despite the fact that the fragrance unfortunately didn't pick me up, I think it's good that Lempicka has taken a different path than many of her competitors.

Lempicka Homme EDT
Smells about 90% like Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male. Peppery, liquorice, Sugary sweet Vanilla Rum with a tinge of Labdanum and Musk base. It lasts well for an EDT. But its a little too boozy and skanky for me. If you like JPG or one million you'll love it. As I don't like either of them it's not my cup of tea. Too sweet. But it's well crafted
