Vetiver, eh?
After it struck me, all I can think about is a lawnmower.

It has got the rubber tires, the petroleum, the freshly cut grass - everything to make an olfactory picture of a lawnmower, really.
Or imagine Bvlgari's Black and Grey Flannel having a child.

Either way, it's too bad I was only looking for a good, simple contemporary vetiver. While I definitely keep looking, I should honestly say, though, that Exhale seems to be composed using top-quality ingredients in generous concentrations. It has exquisite longevity and its dry-down gets better by the hour (which is a polite way of saying that I'm not a huge fan of its opening). It's lack of classical structure bothers me a bit, but I guess it's just silly old restricted me. I'm guessing it's perfectly suitable to compose a perfume more in a manner of an impressionist sketch these days.

Prehistoric Fireman's Scent
This is evocative of a prehistoric male hunter, always alert while away from home, in search of aliments for his family and fighting all the elements. Maybe from the time that man discovered how to make fire? Smoky vetiver, even better than, say, Encre Noire, so popular these days - how may I dare to write this??

Robin Hood & Maid Marion
Yes, it has been a long, long time since the two kind-hearted outlaws rode through the Nottingham Sherwood Forest. The deepest and darkest woods of all Britain. They hid behind large old trees by the roadside and... they knew from a good source when a carriage with stone-rich, stingy nobles passed by. Then... zap, ambush! They harmed no one, they bound the "poor," stole money, jewelry, and trinkets, quickly made off, and by the time the crew of the carriage had freed themselves, they were already over the hills. Most people know the rest of the story. Many a poor soul managed to scrape together a little livelihood this way.
Well, if the two loved a scent, it was that of the forest. With crisp wood, green needles, damp earth, and plenty of incense that smells like a campfire with aromatic cedar and fir wood!
And in gratitude that a boy could now learn his dream profession in London (of course, a perfumer!) thanks to the money from the stingy nobles, he dedicated a perfume to Robin Hood and Maid Marion that is still known today and smells "divine." "Breath of God (Perfume) | Lush / Cosmetics To Go" and the two parts of it: "Inhale | Lush / Cosmetics To Go" and "Exhale | Lush / Cosmetics To Go." Everyone can wear what they like! Or mix. And enjoy!

The Better Half of "Breath of God"
It is well known that the Lush fragrance "Breath of God" consists of two parts: "Inhale" and "Exhale," with "Inhale" commonly referred to as the light and feminine part and "Exhale" as the dark and masculine part.

"Breath of God" is a very good fragrance, no doubt about it, which is why I rated it 100%. And undoubtedly, compared to "Exhale," it is the far more exciting and complex scent due to its contrasts. However, as with many fragrances, sometimes less is actually more (which, mind you, does not apply to "Breath of God"). In "Exhale," for my taste, less is indeed more. Despite the reduced fragrance notes, nothing is lacking here.

Those who particularly appreciate the pronounced smokiness of "Breath of God" will love "Exhale"! "Exhale" is dark and heavy, earthy and very woody, yet it always has a pleasant warmth that never becomes overwhelming. I cannot explicitly identify amber (thankfully for me). Additionally, there are lemon and grapefruit oils as ingredients that subtly brighten the fragrance at the beginning. And of course, besides vetiver, there is the cedar juniper, which contributes this beautiful smokiness in a concentrated form, as well as the unusual light nuttiness that made "Breath of God" so special.

"Exhale" is available as a perfume oil based on jojoba oil in a 15 ml bottle for only 16,-- British pounds. It can be applied very easily without the risk of spilling, as there is a dosing mechanism in the opening similar to that of a medicine bottle.

Unfortunately, "Exhale" is currently only available to order from the British online shop of Lush and can be purchased directly at the Gorilla Shop in London. This should change, as "Exhale" deserves it!
